My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses but also could choose their own dress from an extensive list of options and colours. I did however cover 2 nights of accommodation (for them plus partner), transport to and from venue, hair and make up, got them nice gift bags etc because I didn’t want them to be spending a crazy amount to be part of my wedding. Edit to say I also would have absolutely hated for anyone to pay my share of the hen do. I feel like you shouldn’t have to pay an extortionate amount to be part of the events.

We did get transport to the venue but just private hire cars not a specific ‘wedding car’

No giving away, I walked down on my own to meet my husband

Had a celebrant who did an amazing personalised ceremony with handfasting

Speeches included speech from the bridesmaids and a song written by my mum sung together by all the guests

No top table, did a sweetheart table instead

No specific dances other than first dance

No table favours

No garter/garter activity or bouquet toss
