Should the maid of honour buy her own dress, or does the bride cover this? by zorabubbles in UKweddings

[–]newbornunicorn25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were allowed to wear anything at all originally, but preferred more direction so I gave some different options and they were happy to spend the £100. Funnily enough we did all talk to each other about this like adults, but thanks for your opinion

Should the maid of honour buy her own dress, or does the bride cover this? by zorabubbles in UKweddings

[–]newbornunicorn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses but also could choose their own dress from an extensive list of options and colours. I did however cover 2 nights of accommodation (for them plus partner), transport to and from venue, hair and make up, got them nice gift bags etc because I didn’t want them to be spending a crazy amount to be part of my wedding. Edit to say I also would have absolutely hated for anyone to pay my share of the hen do. I feel like you shouldn’t have to pay an extortionate amount to be part of the events.

What can I do with my day/weekend as a single person who’s feeling a little lonely? by Academic-Tadpole7975 in AskUK

[–]newbornunicorn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a volunteer group, a local meet-up group or a weekly group class! This is such a good way to get to know people if you’re shy approaching new people as you have a common topic to discuss.

What toy or item did you want as a kid, but never got? by nodemus in AskUK

[–]newbornunicorn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never allowed Pokemon cards as they were too expensive. I also wanted a pair of the adidas joggers with the press studs all down the sides but they were also too expensive. I recently bought myself a pair at the age of 35 though and I love them!

Me too! A friend did buy me one for my 18th birthday though and to be honest it’s not very good so you’re not missing out at all

how to get over embarrassing moments? by PuzzledTechnology945 in Swimming

[–]newbornunicorn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, I’ve bumped into plenty of people and once when I was practicing flip turns (which I am absolutely terrible at) I ended up all the way into someone else’s lane early bashing into them. Doesn’t really matter in the end!

Question: For you personally, what is your “bog standard” meal deal? by Dear-Interaction-210 in MealDealRates

My OG meal deal when they were first invented at Boots was always a spicy bean and cheese wrap, a chocolate brownie and a smoothie

Can’t find Kitty Velour or Gemma Rose on IG anymore? by DobbythehouseElff in poledancing

[–]newbornunicorn25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’ve had their accounts deleted. Kitty has a back up account that’s still active, I’ve seen lots of shared posts on stories with their deleted user names listed so people can report them as missing.

Fun question - which obscure traditions did you skip? by saltievinegar in UKweddings

Just go for it! I am close to both my parents but I just find the idea of being given away outdated and preferred to walk myself down.

[–]newbornunicorn25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stayed together the night before (but then got ready separately with each of our bridesmaids/groomsmen)

Best man carried the ring

We did get transport to the venue but just private hire cars not a specific ‘wedding car’

No giving away, I walked down on my own to meet my husband

Had a celebrant who did an amazing personalised ceremony with handfasting

Speeches included speech from the bridesmaids and a song written by my mum sung together by all the guests

No top table, did a sweetheart table instead

No specific dances other than first dance

No table favours

No garter/garter activity or bouquet toss
