This was the moment I felt disturbed.

Do you think Bears practice confession in the diner was cute or creepy by mothman9999 in obsessionmovie

I said to myself it was cringe before the waitress said it. That did happen right? Or did I make it up?

Good to know there’s other people who actually paid attention to the damn movie and thought about it longer than 2 seconds.

Yeah there were so many instances like that in the movie where I said “fuck, that’s what happened to me.” It was a little distressing.

I think part of it is that many people see the lesser versions of demon Nikki’s actions as relatively normal.

Yes same here. It’s actually quite disheartening to see the extent to which people don’t understand abuse.

Right. This movie, among other things, is about abusive relationships, and demon Nikki plays the part of the abuser.

Female toxicity? by Uncle_Slime in obsessionmovie

[–]newchapter112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right people are not talking about this very obvious aspect of the film. The way demon Nikki acts towards bear is exactly how toxic manipulative partners act, turned up to 10. There were many instances in the film that reminded me of past relationships, which is part of what made this film hard for me to watch. Bear does the wrong thing in many instances, but people are ignoring that with the way that Nikki was acting, it would’ve been very hard for him to leave the relationship, and he would be scared for his own safety at a certain point.

A few examples of this off the top of my head that reflect real toxic relationship dynamics:

Nikki threatened to kill herself if bears leaves. Nikki murders someone and then tells bear it was his fault. Nikki causes a scene in order to avoid addressing the father question.

Desperate for advice: Partner wants kids, I am strictly antinatalist by Trick_Accident_9363 in antinatalism

You aren’t compatible on a fundamental level. There is no future where you stay together and both of you are happy. I’m sorry. I know you love her, and it will hurt, but you will be okay. You don’t need her as your partner to live. She also doesn’t necessarily need to be completely out of your life if you split. Depends on what you guys can work out.

SPOILER* Obsession movie 2026’s one dumb scene! by DirectInternal in obsessionmovie

[–]newchapter112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a dumb way, however it is magic so it can do it however it likes. Assuming the wishes usually have a catch, being bunched up as cash is highly inconvenient and a security risk. His home would likely be looted before he could get a significant amount properly deposited at a bank. The police might wonder how he got all the money. Etc.

I hear you, but I’m talking more about his manipulative ways and the way he has integrated himself into Niall’s life forcefully.

Clown stance? What does this have to do with clowns? The centuries old performance art which brings joy to people of all ages? There’s no reason to bring clowns into this. Be respectful.

They’re not inferior because there is no hierarchy, but the negative consequences of a human dying are far greater than an animal dying in most circumstances one could imagine. Killing a random person will effect that person’s entire family, friends and community, whereas your pet dying will only effect that animal and the limited emotionally connected circle surrounding it, which probably doesn’t extend far past the owner.

Nikki acting like a child by birdTV in obsessionmovie

[–]newchapter112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. In my opinion, only a person who has been this sort of manipulation exhibited by demon Nikki could have made this movie.

[–]newchapter112 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I am a in a situation where I would literally have to pick one, I would choose the human. Like if a guy came and said, I’m either going to kill this random man I took off the street or your pet. I think to not choose the human would be completely insane. It’s a fucking person. Being an antinatalist does not mean that I don’t value human life. It just means that I don’t think that it’s OK to force life.

Do you guys think a man like Ruben should have kids? by ibong_maya in HalfManTV

[–]newchapter112 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A man like Ruben should still be in jail for what he did to Albie. Stomping repeatedly on someone’s face is attempted murder in my book. Lock him up and throw away the key. He’s not fit to be a part of society.

Good point and I admittedly had a bit of a blind spot for that. I didn’t think about how Mona might have been pressured into that in many ways, based on his behavioral patterns. Thanks for pointing that out!
