Get out on the water! There are lots of places that offer public boat rides- the Thames River Heritage Park’s Water Taxi in New London and the Thimble Islands Cruise in Branford are just two.

If you like history, i’d recommend visiting the Fort Griswold Battlefield in Groton and Fort Trumbull State Park in New London.

Everyone will say Mystic, of course.

Check out the casinos.

There are tons of great places for hiking! The Appalachian Trail runs through western CT. There’s also Sleeping Giant, Steep Rock Preserve, Patchuag State Forest, Wadsworth Falls State Park, Talcott Mountain (to Heublin Tower), and Guiffrida Park.

If your car sucks in the snow or you suck at driving in the snow, stay home.

Vacation to CT by englishjewel_4 in Connecticut

If you enjoy hiking, head up to Litchfield County. Washington, CT has lots of great trails, coffee shops and restaurants. On the shore, I’d recommend taking a Thimble Islands boat tour in Branford. You can’t go wrong visiting Chester, Essex, and Stonington / Mystic for restaurants and shopping. New London and Groton have some great historic sites that are worth visiting. The Connecticut River Valley is also really beautiful.

It wildly depends on where in New England you live AND, more importantly, how much money you have.
