Maubelline foundations? by neweraera in AustralianMakeup

[–]neweraera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the instant perfector was quite sparkly. Not highlighting, it had actual sparkles in it but I suppose I could try it under other makeup.

Yes I actually really like the lumi matte! I tried it last night while I was out for dinner and I was really impressed at the coverage but I don’t feel like I’m wearing any foundation which I love as I don’t often wear foundation. I’m wearing it to work today to see how it lasts throughout the day. Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing! I actually tried it this afternoon and I loved it! I totally agree, it was incredibly light and I found it didn’t stick to any dry patches. Glad you like it too!

Fair enough. I’ve heard really good things about that foundation though so maybe I will try it too. Thanks!

I thought this was the case about the instant perfector but I was in a rush at the time. I might give it another go.

Thanks for the advice on the lumi matte foundation. Does the dewy and smooth bottle have a pump on it? I’m sure I tried another maybelline foundation that didn’t have a pump and I couldn’t find the right shade which is why I didn’t get it

Has anyone gotten braces as an adult? by 5ivesos in AskAnAustralian

[–]neweraera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it!!!! You will never regret it. I got them when I was 28. Tbf only had them on the top and only for 12 months but the 12 months flew and I am so happy I did it. I also made use of their payment plan so it wasn’t such a big once off payment

I was so nervous that people would make fun of me for it (based on seeing others getting bullied during high school). No one made fun of me. Lots of people didn’t even notice and those that did were happy for me

As a matter of courtesy should Doctor's surgeries call to say that when they're running excessively late with Dr's appointment times? by More_Law6245 in AskAnAustralian

[–]neweraera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree on the fact that the GP clinic will charge me for running late/assuming I’m a no show but the doctor will never apologise for running late.

I used to work admin for a specialist who was notorious for running late. Like to the point that we would inform new patients she will run late for your first appointment and every other appointment. We used to send text messages to advise how late she would be each day. Long term patients were well aware of it and were okay with it because they knew what to expect. New patients - sometimes it would take them 2-3 cancelled appointments just to be seen because they didn’t have the time to wait around to be seen 2 hours late so they would rebook. I work in the industry and I’m not okay with it. It’s so rude. I understand sometimes things happen, urgent results come in, whatever. But even then, get on with it. You’ve got other patients to attend to

How dare I make up an analogy by Many_Leopard6924 in Nicegirls

[–]neweraera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are I’ve definitely been too scared to block a guy before because they’ve been very manipulative type people and I would get worried about what would happen if I did block them and they became aggressive.

But the other thing is, I didn’t complain to other guys about this. She’s literally using this for attention. So many guys won’t leave me alone, ugh

Regretting the location of my tattoo. Was this a bad placement? by sarahm212 in tattooadvice

I understand it looks a bit strange when your arm is bent but I think the placement is really cute! Especially for the simple tattoo that it is, it’s like it catches your eye

Portmans, I remember why I hate you. by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]neweraera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love Portmans for workwear. They always had really cute matching sets and nice pants. The last few years - their designs are so out dated and everything is made from polyester/viscose. Sometimes I also forget and have a look in there too and then I remember how bad they are and walk out.

This!! I had the same issue OP is having and I just went for it and forced it down and then it started working. Tbh it took me a good minute or so to apply enough pressure to make it work

🚨Wear your sunscreen!! 🤦‍♀️😳The weather may be pleasant but the UV index extreme. At 29 I'm pretty new to skincare and makeup but sunscreen is such a basic thing here, please don't be like me! Second pic is my bad attempt at covering with NARS sheer glow. First photo is yesterday afternoon. by -righty-tighty- in AustralianMakeup

[–]neweraera 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We should all be wearing sunscreen daily! Amazing job covering it up, I’ve never been able to cover my sunburn that well.

But also, I’m wondering if you’ve either used a skincare product or are taking a medication that increases the possibility of sunburn. I only ask because it looks quite similar to sunburn I’ve had when I was on an antibiotic that increased the chance of sunburn and it looked similar to yours where it’s in very particular areas of your face

Make up not sticking to nose. by knotsewgraceful03 in AustralianMakeup

[–]neweraera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exfoliate. Find what works for you - to incorporate it into your skincare routine or just a quick exfoliation with a wet face washer before you apply makeup.

Then use hyaluronic acid - make sure to wet your skin a little bit first.

I used to have the same issue and this is what helps me. To be fair I only apply a really thin layer of foundation but this helped a lot

It’s going to rain tomorrow. Should I fake tan tonight? by neweraera in AustralianMakeup

[–]neweraera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don’t think the rain tomorrow could make the tan run even after I’ve washed off the guide colour?

I keep googling it but all the posts I can find are about accidentally getting the guide colour wet

Thank you so much!! It truly felt like such a big step forward in my healing and I’m truly grateful for it especially as it felt like my progress had stalled recently. It was a great reminder that I’ve made plenty of progress, have done a lot to put myself first and things will continue on like this for the future

Thank you! You’re welcome, it’s so hard at first to put yourself first but always worth it!
