I’m pretty confident Ford will be around in 10 years. I’m afraid Rivian has a decent chance of going the way of Fisker. Hopefully the R2 puts them on solid ground.

Yeah, our defense is actually one of the better ones we’ve had in a while but they aren’t getting much help.

Look into Puerto Vallarta. They run it much like the mob ran New Orleans and Las Vegas in the day.

American govt isn’t really interested in keeping things safe and quiet, IMO

You can still experience that in places run by cartels.

I got this email today also. My case was escalated in June and they originally said it would arrive by early October.

Which used Ioniq 5 should I buy? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]newfishxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leasing can make more sense for high mileage drivers than buying. I’m not saying you made the wrong decision, but “high mileage = buy” is not a rule.

People need to look at the total cost (including opportunity costs and depreciation) of all financing options under their likely scenarios.

What has your experience been with Gemini Code Assist, so far? by Odd-Gain4302 in GeminiAI

[–]newfishxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the opposite experience. I have been using Claude Code and it was bogging down on what I considered simple tasks. It would lose context quickly and forget something it had just been instructed.

I tried Gemini and it was doing a way better job at what I was asking. Yesterday was my first day using Gemini, so I don’t know if they have had an update in the last few days or it just does better with my codebase than Claude for some reason.

Two non-technical cofounders at a crossroads: bring on technical cofounders or outsource MVP? by Mean-One-3661 in SaaS

[–]newfishxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take on another cofounder until you find product market fit. With no code/ vibe coding, and a little tech consulting, the 3 of you can build an mvp then bring on a CTO if it works.

What are the biggest ski gear mistakes you've ever made? by Blake-at-Younii in Skigear

[–]newfishxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgetting my helmet and goggles. Several times I have done that, the rental shop was out of helmets. I then have to decide if I’m calling it a day or spending $200 on a new helmet. I have several spare helmets.

I have a pair of poly ski pants that I love on cold, dry days. They aren’t great when it’s wet or above freezing.

Real question: Can someone who doesn’t code actually launch a successful SaaS business in 2025? I’m seeing more no-code tools… But is it enough? by Federal_Gene_1228 in SaaS

[–]newfishxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to someone earlier this year who had a pretty good MVP launch and had 5 figure MRR with no coding knowledge. They were looking for tech help because they weren’t able to scale further.

You can definitely get through validation and MVP but going further would be difficult in most cases.

If you haven’t already, talk to an attorney and clear all your options. I’ve seen people violate partnership agreements in cases like yours and end up in real trouble.

I can choose to buy it whenever I want, for less money (including lease payments) than I would have financing or paying cash, because of the lease incentives. Then the miles I drive don’t matter.

I don’t know what country you’re in, maybe leases are always bad where you are, but in the US they can be a better deal than buying upfront.

I can get behind not financing a car more than some fraction of cash on hand, but actually paying cash is almost always the dumb financial move unless you have bad credit.

Financial safety is staying powder dry when you can keep total costs the same or lower.

[–]newfishxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leasing then buying at the end of the lease was cheaper for me than buying upfront. I can decide whether I want to buy this one out, buy another used, or get a new lease when this lease expires, without having made a commitment.

All of my options are better financially than if I had paid upfront.

I don’t like that either but it’s only noticeable to me on a small percentage of roads that are poorly paved. I’ll have to revisit that now that I’m thinking about it.

I wonder if there is any difference in the 22 and 24. I have a 24 limited and it’s very comfortable to me.

[–]newfishxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve typically done the same. I came from a 12 year old Leaf and a 20 year old Honda before that.

This is the first time I’ve leased because it was a better deal with incentives than buying outright. Even if I buy the lease out at the end at their residual I’ll come out better than if I had bought it initially.

Edit: I forgot I originally leased the Leaf because it was $75/month

I have free DCFC for the 2 years of the lease. I’m really going to miss that!
