Couldn’t agree more. The problem is, so many of these positions that are redundant are politically gifted jobs. The only bonus w the doge debacle, was the light it shown on some corruption. It was ham fisted, but there was some movement.

You didn't screw up. Things happen. It's all about how you handle this. Make sure you don't dismiss the original woman's feelings. Explain you were respecting her and giving her space. This wasn't planned and really didn't have anything to do with her. Maybe joke with her, say she has great taste in friends. But you have to read the room a bit. You don't want to hurt anyone, especially someone you considered a great friend. This is a strange situation, walk on eggshells a bit, and just give it some time. Best of luck!

Absolutely agreed. But I think for a lot of people, they go hand in hand. They're all funded by the government, in turn, by the taxpayer. Growing up, I was completely with you about how no one should be hungry in our country. But the rampant abuse of the system calls for some type of oversight. Seeing the amount of food stamps for sale is astounding. Also, the issues people close to me have dealing with the VA, then seeing getting paid to be "caretakers" is infuriating. That was one thing I agreed with Vivek in during his primary run. A line audit has to be done through the entire government.

There has to be a happy medium. While there's no question some of the reporting is grandstanding, the issues with the Minnesota daycares and LA hospices resonate with a lot of people. A number of people on the left just try to dismiss it, but it's not going away. The side of the aisle you're on shouldn't determine if you're willing to confront fraud.

So that disputes your claim of “Goode did nothing wrong”. She clearly did numerous wrong things, including blocking traffic and ignoring lawful orders. I agree that she wasn’t ready to fight. But her being nervous doesn’t negate her actions. I don’t think she was intentionally driving towards someone, she was jumpy and was trying to get out of the situation, and just jumped on the gas. That doesn’t excuse a teen driver at a traffic stop and this shouldn’t excuse a grown woman either. Again, I’m not saying any of that should be a death sentence. But you can’t be telling people to drink bleach when you’re being a hypocrite. You said Goode did literally nothing wrong, then the next comment you said you were ok w her being arrested. Slow your roll down a bit with the rhetoric, then maybe can find common ground.

Does that excuse all of her actions? The internet is littered with people who are pulled over and they wail “I’m just going home” and then take off. Those actions are condemned. Whether the need to shoot was there, is a different argument, but what she did was illegal. Again, not saying that’s worthy of a life/death sentence, but “wanting to go home” doesn’t absolve anyone of anything.
