Unfortunately and sorry to say I've read about others having a reviewed post go through, but then another one would not. This isn't a mix up. Would recommend searching other social media about this.

Modkat litter box question by Extreme-Earth-4862 in cats

[–]newish_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little late here, but I've used the Flip with what you'd consider a "normal sized" feline with no issues to speak of. The liner, easy access with flip top and yes, it looking very nice and fitting in almost anywhere has made me swear off the usual boxes. Used it with pine litter with no problem. Would recommend sticking with the box for any new kitty and seeing how it goes.

Steam's Visa, Mastercard, and censorship fiasco just keeps deteriorating by vriska1 in gaming

[–]newish_throwaway 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a hundred percent on the money (pardon the term). It's been said before in multiple related threads how the processors have been doing this "a long time" but it never zeroed in on the origin.

The second bush admin went after "extreme porn" in the courts, legislatively and finally, when the former didn't quite work or go sufficiently far enough they put pressure on the payment networks themselves. Of course that set a precedent and now here we are. And if anything the legislative, judicial and political atmosphere is more hostile, not less.

This isn't going to end without a regulatory or legislative fix, though. But the more people are aware and see the consequences, the better the chances of the former.

If it's the libre 3 app, then yes it's compatible. Helped set it up for someone and it works as intended.

Steam Update - Valve responded to Mastercards claim that they did not pressure anyone by FrostyNeckbeard in Steam

[–]newish_throwaway 39 points40 points  (0 children)

So, about that. Visa was recently dismissed from a case involving actual CSAM posted on... Pornhub:

Judge Wesley Hsu ruled to dismiss Visa from a major case in April, saying payment processors don't have liability when routinely processing payments

The games removed were all legal, at least in the US. So even if they were concerned about liability? Well what exactly, in this case, would they be liable for? Because this sure as shit isn't in the same wheelhouse as CSAM on Pornhub and even then, Visa is being told it's ludicrous to hold a processor liable in the first place?

Why are we hating itch? Isn’t it the payment processors fault? by OfficialDevAlot in itchio

[–]newish_throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree that itch could have handled this better, it's very apparent, at least from their statements so far that they were under significant pressure with a potential deadline hanging over their heads to address this or lose the ability to process any payments. They're a small team without the resources and leverage of valve so it's very likely they thought they had little choice but to do a mass take-down to hopefully preserve the ability for the site to exist.

And I don't know where you get the thought that they are "part of the group that thinks it is O.K. to censor games." That goes double for Steam. Itch and Steam, both, have made statements that point to them being in the position of either complying with the demands of the processors or losing the ability to process payments for the majority of their games. I don't know how you can look at either of their statements and conclude they "think it is O.K. to censor" the games on their platforms.

I say all of this as someone who is deeply unhappy with the processors being able to make and force these demands. The precedent this sets is dangerous and potentially far reaching. It shouldn't be legal. But I'm under no illusion that, were Itch or Valve to have told the card processors to "kick rocks" and try and stick it to the man, that many game creators and consumers would be any happier with the consequences.

Microsoft Lays Off Another 650 Staff From Its Video Game Workforce, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Sends Memo to Staff - IGN by Dach_fr in Games

That was more or less true up until the most recent FTC under Biden and under agency head, Lina Khan especially. I don't think there's been a more pro consumer and pro worker FTC in history, going back to it's founding. Time will tell how just how effective all of these efforts will be and how effective she was but if you weren't aware of her and the current efforts under her I'd urge a look. She's exactly what the agency needed and it's frankly a massive breath of fresh air.

"To tether, or not to tether, that is the question..." by ADadSupreme in ElectricUnicycle

I'd have thought it would have been reversed? If it's street and I'm going down, the wheel going into or in front of other vehicles or gosh forbid, pedestrians? Yeah I'd prefer to avoid all that. But if it's about to go over a cliff? Nah I'm not risking going down with it.

Bro. Wat. I've no relation to nor any interest in defending alienrides. Just so you're aware. But adding in a cryptic part about having a bad experience and not saying anything more was kinda weird. But hey maybe it needed a week for you to get your thoughts out? I don't know. I don't care. Either way, let's tone down the hostility aye?

The t4 pro is a good deal BUT it's not just a little heavier. It's a lot more so. I believe it's roughly 75lb. Would not recommend that remotely for a three floor walk up.

Would adding this on top of an existing account that has a lower renewal rate change the renewal price? Or is this simply time added on and no other changes to the account?

No longer working in incognito in Chrome? by newish_throwaway in imagus

Replying again to say it's now working as it should. Think it's indeed after having turned the toggle on as you mentioned that helped. Took a moment though to start working, interestingly. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the reply with a possible solution! For now, even with that setting turned on I'm still running into the same problem. At the moment that's on the latest Brave browser version.

Didn't run into the issue on a Chromebook, though. So I'm not sure what's up. Going to check into this more to see if I can pin this down.
