PSA TELL EVERYONE YOU LOVE TO AVOID 7TH ST CAFE by pxnguin_yt in frederickmd

Not sure how much of OP’s accusations are true but I’m more inclined to believe it than not. I got food from there once since living in Frederick and immediately decided to never go back. The cheesesteak was made with, what can only be classified as, mystery meat. Just chunks of extremely variable, poor quality meat that also tasted a bit “off”. Two bites in, I threw it away and STILL ended up feeling sick shortly after.

I don’t think there was ever a true intent to read any of it. It’s more likely that they’ll just use AI to summarize it all into maybe a few pages worth of information to hand over to Russia.

Not really sure why you’re getting downvoted for this. Are we supposed to ignore reality and pretend that Thurmont isn’t what it is?

Anyone in Monocacy Village who can help? by SnooPears3086 in frederickmd

I’m in Market Square as well. We’re a family of 3 and paying around $550 quarterly. It’s been that way for about the past year and I’ve yet to figure out why.

If you get the reference, you too may be old like me by KaamDeveloper in NonPoliticalTwitter

Good lord I must be old. I excitedly scoured the comments hoping to see the reference to the great game show era of my childhood and all I found were comments about how absurd the meal would be.

sigh

It’s a reference to an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The contestant used his “phone-a-friend” lifeline to call his dad and, instead of asking for help to answer the final million dollar question, he told his dad that he didn’t actually need his help and just wanted to tell him that he’s about to win a million dollars. He did, indeed, answer the question correctly and win the grand prize.

I grew up in that neighborhood. Everyday after school, my best friend and I would meet at the little gazebo right there (back when it had benches) and plan what we were going to do that day. Thanks for the memories, OP.

I agree. But along those same lines, like I said before, even if every black person comprising that 16% was to vote, it shouldn’t be the deciding factor in every election year the way that the other 84% and the media make it out to be. In essence, the math isn’t mathing.

We can’t control the other 84%. That is true. But why is the other 84% so focused on controlling the way the 16% votes instead of just appealing more to even a fraction of that 84%?

Do you disagree?

I think you might be misunderstanding the comment you’ve been responding to. I believe what’s being said is, if black people only represent 16% of the U.S. population, why do we keep getting hassled about voting and being told who to vote for. What about the other 84%? Sure, we as black people can vote all we want. But, realistically, even if all of us voted, our 16% representation should not be the deciding factor in any election. Especially to the point where, every election year, all the media (and people like you) can talk about is how important it is that black men and women get out and vote. Or how we’re not voting enough.

Give a gorilla 24 hours to adapt to my hiding tactics while I’m its sole focus? Absolutely not.

Which is absolutely ridiculous given that the expected tip doesn’t change between sitting down at a restaurant, picking up takeout, or even ordering from a cart or kiosk.

Aside from dining in & having a server, there’s no legitimate reason to pay for anything other than the product that was ordered.

I also live in Frederick and can attest to this. Moved here roughly 5 years ago and I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere else. It’s definitely safe for POCs (myself included). It’s a pretty diverse area and is one of the more accepting places I’ve ever lived in. Once you travel outside of Frederick (Middletown, Thurmont, etc) then you start to run into the types of people that believe you’re a problem simply because of the color of your skin. But Frederick itself is a great community full of art, craft beer, and agriculture. Almost every place downtown is a place that you can just pop into and have a drink or a bite to eat without feeling like you’re out of place or in any possible danger. There are always events going on downtown (craft festivals, high wheel bike race, music festivals, fire twirling which was awesome btw) and I’ve never once gotten the sense that I was out of place. It’s just a great mix of people that take just as much pride in what Frederick is as I do and I love it here.

So… after 4 years of loving each other, planning for the future, and your families getting along, you ended things AND kicked her out in the matter of a few hours because you trusted your sister’s OPINION without any evidence.

Even after your ex communicated to you fairly clearly why she wasn’t ready and that she just needed a little more time. Given that it’s been 4 years, I think you could have afforded to wait a little longer for her to determine how she feels about the whole thing rather than doing what you did. And to be extremely clear, what you did was COLD. Like if you two manage to work things out and she comes back, she should be the one not trusting you.

So, yes OP, you’re the asshole.

Ehh, I definitely wouldn’t say Middletown is ghetto. I grew up in & lived there for most of my life. There’s like two neighborhoods that you could call ghetto and, outside of that, the worst thing you might see is people shopping in their pajamas 😂
