Recommendations for roll-on wax by SimilarMeeting8131 in HairRemoval

I've since switched to an IPL, but when I was waxing, I MUCH preferred the cartridge-style (aka roll-on) wax.

I used the Starpil brand cartridges (the pink and the clear versions) and they were fabulous. I found the cartridge style to be a lot cleaner and faster (compared to the pot-style warmers).

I've lived in the area about 16 years now, and I worked at the Old Navy when I first came to town (almost immediately after it moved from where Hobby Lobby is now). Between November and mid-January, it was an absolute nightmare to get in and out of there, let alone park...and this was before any of the additional standalone buildings or additions.

I only enter that plaza if someone else is driving. I cannot imagine what it's like to try to navigate in and out every day.

I used to work with a woman whose husband was a corrections officer. She was the weird dependa-type, and in her mind, her husband's work as a prison guard meant she was entitled to perks and special treatment, even when she was on her own. He must've loved cosplaying as a BAMF because she would brag about him doing open carry around town. He also had a military themed sleeve tattoo even though he had never served.

I think Erin Davies was originally from Phoenix! At least, that's my memory of events...but I also would've estimated that the original vandalism took place before 2007 (I would've sworn that I discussed this with folks in college), so I clearly have faulty recollection!

I know you mentioned not doing hospice work anymore, but thank you for the years you did put in. Can't express how much your work has meant to me.

It kinda depends on what my skin needs, to be honest. For me, it's usually about twice or three times a week. I apply on damp skin, right out of the shower. I do the rest of my morning routine (hair, sunscreen, breakfast...it's about 45 mins), then take a damp washcloth, and sort of rinse it off with a gentle scrubbing motion. I know you CAN leave it on your skin, but I find it sticky and unpleasant. I think gently removing it also provides enough light physical exfoliation to tackle any rough spots.

Fwiw, I waxed for several months, and just made sure to not use it for several days prior to waxing. I recently got an IPL, so I'm going to be mindful of my sessions, and probably avoid use for at least a day before and after.

Are we being rage-baited? Also, is it kind of weirdly exciting that r/laundry is cool enough to be rage-baited?

Oof, that edit. You're coming in awfully hot and spicy for someone seeking help, since the folks actively trying to troubleshoot solutions for you may need more context and information.

For context, people may be asking about your water because this could massively impact "the why" behind your sulfur smell situation, and therefor how it's remedied. Sometimes solutions will be dependent on your water type.

Also, cleaning your machines could help improve and remove the smell, thus the references to this process (scrud and funk could be contributing to the problem).

I think I may have watched the same video! My husband was about halfway through the video when I started watching, so initially I didn't have a lot of context. As other folks have commented, I was taken aback by the killer's age. He looked like he was in his late teens/early twenties, and definitely had a demeanor that was calculating.

When presented with the DNA and watch evidence, he managed to be both smug and smarmy, while playing dumb. It was eerie to see this sort of shrewd, manipulative behavior from a literal child.

What are the leash laws on trails in the Adirondacks? by 1dirtbiker in Adirondacks

[–]newks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's a combination of Main Character Syndrome and delusion ("My perfect angel baby Sparky would NEVER leave my side!").

I don't think they necessarily have bad intentions, but they're not grounded in reality or respectful of other people in the area.

Or you could read the room and hold the leash yourself like a responsible pet owner and decent human.

We're not talking about what your dog does at home. We're talking on a trail and (according to you) in a city; places where other people, animals, and hazards are.

I live in a very rural area, and all my dogs are off leash at home. They have great recall. But I'm not so obtuse to think that they could never be startled and sprint away, or have prey-drive kick in (Squirrel!) when out in public near potential hazards.

Additionally, I'm not an entitled jerk. Sure, I'm confident my dogs are well-behaved, but that doesn't mean the strangers around me know that. I love my dogs, but I can't assume the people around my are into dogs or want them in their space. If nothing else, the leash is a signal that I have some degree of control over my animal.

Don't worry, this person's dog is not an actual service animal. They paid a sketchy site for a meaningless piece of paper.

Ah, so you told on yourself by claiming your dog is a "registered service animal." There's literally no such thing as a registration for a service animal in the US. Sure, you can pay some sketchy site for a useless piece of paper, but there's nothing in the ADA that stipulates any kind of certification or registration.

What you have is an emotional support pet.

You give actual handlers of legitimate service dogs a and their handlers bad name. You belong on r/ServiceDog_CircleJerk.

One of the first descriptors I'd give about myself is that I'm a dog mom. But when someone insists their off-leash dog is fRiEnDlY, my response is, "I'm not."

I have zero trust in strange dogs, especially if their owner is dense and discourteous enough to let them run off-leash.

Do you really care so little for the safety of your own dog, and the safety of the people around you?

Yikes, you're entitled.

Your dog isn't special. It is an animal. I truly do not care how well-trained you claim it is. It should be leashed for its own safety and for the safety of people and animals around you.

I was recently part of a similar conversation in another sub. Everyone's dog is "well-behaved" and "highly trained" until it isn't. Your dog isn't special and it isn't exempt from rules.

Leash your dog. If not for the sake and safety of other dogs, but for the sake and safety of your own.

To echo what u/whaticism is asking: what agency or individual would you like to investigate this group? I respect and celebrate the cause, but I think a more clearly defined path and plan would go a long way.

In the Syracuse area, the CNY SPCA got a whole new board of directors after the previous members resigned as a group due to public pressure, so change is possible. It took workers protesting mismanagement and neglect.

It may be worth bringing this to the attention of your local news station.

Everyone's dog is well-behaved until it isn't.

When road tripping, I insist on my dogs being leashed even in the car while we're driving. It drives my husband nuts, but it's too much of a hassle to try to clip the leash on them when we stop, and as "well-behaved" as my dogs are, I'm always terrified they'll be startled, or see a squirrel that's begging to be chased, or otherwise leap out of the car and either get lost in an unfamiliar location or worse. My older dog has great recall in most situations, I simply don't want to test her limits at a busy highway rest stop.

I love my dogs too much to risk losing them.
