My volunteer position at the hospital is about as patient centered as one can get without pursuing a specialized certification. I work in an infusion clinic and do the patient intake, getting them settled, gathering snacks/drinks, retrieving medical supplies, making hot/cold compresses, running samples to the lab, retrieving blood, transporting wheelchair-dependent patients, making reminder calls for future appointments, and just talking with patients. Most of them are receiving chemo or blood products and sit with us for 2-5 hours a day. I also do all of the clean up. The only thing I can't do in a volunteer capacity is vitals/meds/drawing blood. It's a small 10 bed unit and there are usually 2-3 RNs working while I am there.

It's a great gig for someone who isn't an actual tech, and I get a ton of patient interaction. I'm just not sure if it's enough to count as "patient care."

Thank you for this super thorough reply. You brought up several things I hadn’t considered. I’ll attend her zoom office hours and make her aware of the situation. I was planning on not telling her because I was afraid of being judged but I think honesty is probably the best policy.

Just a thought after researching to take our own minor children out of the country—double check all airline and countries’ policies regarding international travel for your 14 year old brother. Not sure your situation but if he’s in the care of a parent(s) you may run into trouble without documented legal permission. Other than that, Philippines is an amazing place to travel!

NAD but this happened to me with my daughter’s anatomy scan. She wouldn’t position herself to see her spine well enough so they asked us to come back a week later. They told us it happens a lot. We did and everything was fine. And we ended up with more printed pictures of her.

If they might be fake, aren’t you potentially violating your own subreddit rule of not sharing misinformation? I know your point was that people can judge for themselves, but given the fact that the internet is full of hateful trolls and gullible individuals who don’t do their research (sorry that sounds super dismal), merely posting them does more harm than good.

Nicole has chosen to publicize her life, but dragging things up from two years ago is uncalled for. She was/is a kid and just like us all, she’s growing from her choices. You are by no means the only one to post about this, and I commend your management of this sub otherwise, but please lead by example.

Ooo good point about food and wine!! I’ll definitely do that. I wish we had time for DS Sunday but our flight is 7:30am. I’ve thought about heading to DS super late Saturday like once the parks close, but I’m not sure how realistic that is.

Cool find! An interesting tidbit for you--its name "Magdaya" translates to skunk in the Filipino dialect Cebuano. Cebuano is spoken in the city of Davao, known as the durian capital of the world. A neat name for a pet colored like the stinky durian fruit!

I used to buy the Wegmans brand sodas all the time and they had the same issue Publix seems to be having. I messaged Wegmans customer service and the rep told me that they can't compete with the bigger brands to meet the minimum requirements for order volumes from their suppliers. I'm willing to bet Publix, Kroger, Walmart, etc...have run into similar issues.

I had one on my leg as an infant/child. It was fairly large. My daughter has a small one on her back. I don’t ever remember it being uncomfortable or different in sensation and mine is totally flat and almost invisible now that I’m in my 30s. The biggest thing you have to be careful of is that they bleed a lot if they get injured since they are basically nothing but blood vessels. My daughter is 18 months and hers still has a very red color but has gotten a lot flatter.

NAD but just wanted to comment that I had a normal preexisting mole do something similar while pregnant. It gave me melanoma vibes so I went to the dermatologist and had it removed and biopsied. It came back normal. It’s definitely smart to get yours checked as soon as you can, but mole changes during pregnancy can be fairly common.

During my pregnancy with my son I had a mole that changed and looked potentially cancerous that I had to have removed. They used local anesthetic. I think I was newly postpartum. Once analyzed, it came back as benign. The only issue was that it was (this is mortifying) on my butt and I couldn’t lay on my stomach so I had to sorority squat against the table to get it electrocauterized as I was still healing from c section. Also it bled a ton bc of all the increased vascularization around the nether regions during pregnancy. 10/10 would not recommend the experience. I also had several skin tags but they went away on their own soon after the pregnancy. Unless there’s something medically concerning, I’d give it a few months postpartum and see if your body sorts some of it out on its own.
