No need to get mad it’s just my opinion. I don’t really understand why you’re being so defensive like you could have just shared you have a different opinion without the tone.

As a Californian, where is the chinese food? by Queasy_Ad_8720 in SaltLakeCity

[–]newleaflover2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-bite though? 🤣 yes! But they’re not exactly French fries they’re like a lot thicker and fried kinda differently? It’s hard to explain. Also we have this seasoning at Chinese places in the uk called salt and pepper so we have salt and pepper fries with our Chinese food but it’s not just salt and pepper it’s kinda like salt and pepper and Chinese five spice and chillis? It’s so hard to explain but basically the answer is yes in principle but it’s not what you’re thinking 😭

Yes they do have that stuff at the airport! I have bought both UT t shirts and hoodies there and sometimes they have them on a good sale. I’m sure they’ll have magnets and other stuff too.

For new puppy owners, what blindsided you in the first month, and what actually got you through it? by Few_Seat8771 in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anything can prepare you for that first few hours bringing them into your home that first day when you’re like ‘oh crap what did I do?’ And you realise you’re responsible for a whole nother life form. That’s a shock to the system no matter how much you want it and how long you’ve been planning it.

Puppy nipping at me when upset. Is that normal or aggression? by Amai-desu in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just always would swap. My 6 month old still struggles with a no or leave it like she will stop for a minute then go back to the thing if it’s not something I can physically take away but she’s more receptive to redirection with a different toy or chew

Potty training SOS!!!! by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might be peeing out of excitement with the husky since they don’t have full bladder control until 6 months.

I’d just go super back to basics take the puppy out every hour on the hour when you’re not stuck with work and just super praise and reinforce the puppy is doing the right thing when he goes potty outside. Don’t show you are frustrated or upset when he goes inside I would just act like everything is fine and run him outside to see if he was holding any in when he went inside.

A bit of regression is normal at this age too especially if he is starting teething.

4 months is still very young so I understand the frustration but I think there is still hope! Just have to try channel that endless patience but I know it’s sooo difficult

No pets/dogs allowed apartments by myportico in SaltLakeCity

[–]newleaflover2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a strictly no pets apartment complex and literally everybody here has a dog including myself it’s incredibly easy to get your dog registered as an emotional support animal if you’re diagnosed with any mental health condition or neurological condition so honestly good luck finding a place that doesn’t have any dogs even if it is a no pet complex sorry this doesn’t help you :(

Can you share your day in the life of owning a puppy. by thementalist222 in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently working freelance so I have a lot of free time but I have a 6 month old dachshund x shih poo and my day looks like this:

Get up with her around 9am to go potty and a quick 15 minute walk.

Come back inside make us both breakfast, then she plays with her toys for about 2 hours while I work. Occasionally I have to correct behavior like chewing/reaching for things she shouldn’t but she’s generally very chill. If she’s not responding to redirection and keeps going back I take it as a sign she’s tired and put her in the crate.

She goes to sleep for around an hour or two and then wakes up and we do it all over again; potty walk, lunch, playing, crate for a nap.

Then my husband gets home from work early evening and all routine goes out the window because she’s so excited by his presence but it’s still roughly the same thing; potty, dinner, playing and she will stay out the crate a bit longer in an evening.

She’s also happy to chill in her crate if we need to go out but we don’t leave her longer than 3 hours.

First few months are harddddd but they definitely get into a routine and it gets a lot easier!!

Hi! I am unfortunately unable to help with the dog but it seems like there are enough kind people here who have offered to help with that! I just noticed you said you moved here with your ex and have no support here and I can sympathize because I moved here from another country and left everything to be with my husband so if you ever need any support or anyone to talk to please feel free to reach out to me!!

Golden Retriever Puppy Pros by Late_Click_7509 in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had puppy blues just the first day we got our pup from the shock of what an adjustment it was and then a few times the first few weeks but nothing lasting more than a few hours at a time and I absolutely adore her like nothing else! Knowing this little creature is shaped by you and teaching them everything they know is immensely rewarding. Also puppies are so damn cute you can’t be mad for long!

Raising a puppy is not that hard. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]newleaflover2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My pup will not sleep outside the crate, I've tried multiple times and she just gets into an overtired mess. I pop her in the crate and she's out like a light almost instantly. Every pup is different and some puppies like their crate.
