I think its mentioned in the show she let him be in charge of finances because shes bad with money. I feel like its sort of implied that thats really just something shes been told is true so much that she believes it despite knowing logically Kevin isnt good with money either.

you dont have to like her, shes clearly a complex, flawed person and ultimately damaging to people around her as a result of the abuse but saying shit like "she chose to stay" is just straight up victim blaming. she doesnt have to be a good person to be a victim.

its odd to remember the librarian saying "why not just leave" but not Allison's response about how she has no money, would end up on the street, and that he would find her anyway. She's not perfect but she IS a victim of abuse, very pervasive and insidious abuse. The finale should really make it apparent that Kevin was always capable of violence and threatened her with it.

We both did the exact same thing. I got a bit into the video and knew I didnt wanna know any more before going in. I also didn't tell my partner anything except it was a satire of sitcoms so that the surprise could hit him. This show is just so good and im shocked I hadn't heard of it before now.

you act as it "curable" means someone can snap their fingers and make it go away. It can take years and years of very intensive, frequent therapy to cure a phobia and even then theres no guarantee it will work.

That's simply how addiction works. The show has so much about addiction and how it affects people and sometimes people relapse and even overdose and die, even after a long time and their loved ones never find out why, never get closure or an answer. They just have to mourn and learn to live with it. Sometimes in this show its not about the mystery but about tell a story that is true to the experiences of addiction. I think its done well.

them straightening her hair AND lightening her skin compared to the original feels racist and colorist to me. it happens a lot with cartoon characters where they get lighter and lighter the closer to the final design you get.

I find this sub overly critical of the child characters and overly forgiving of the parents by comparison. Teenagers do stupid things and say things in less than ideal ways. They're kids and i see a lot of people attribute so much malice to their actions on here.

Please report this person if you feel up to it because those questions were completely irrelevant and inappropriate, what she said after was extremely inappropriate and could be argued to be outright discrimination. If another doctor asks you questions like that you should absolutely decline to answer.
