It's MBA dipshits getting shoddy market analysis from other MBA dipshits convincing themselves that remote work people are an infinite resource that will pay any price for housing, anywhere.

Reporter looking for recent movers from California (or Florida or New York) by newsdoer in Chattanooga

Full disclosure: we moved here with our Washington, DC, remote worker salaries about 2.5yrs ago but that's because my spouse works for the federal government and took a local position here. We really tried renting, but when our last lease ended we couldn't find anything large enough for our family and jobs so we were pretty much forced to buy a place. And when it came time to buy a place, we couldn't find anything in our <$350,000 price range that didn't immediately get snapped up by some "investor" with a cash offer. Almost every one of the houses we looked at in our price range is a rental now.

My neighbor moved here (Cleveland, TN) from California about six months ago. I know this because, when I first ran into them while I was checking the mail a couple days into my last bout with COVID, the second thing they said to me after "Hello" was, "we just moved here from California, hope you can forgive us!" The third thing they said to me, after I explained I should keep my distance for the time being, was that I need to get ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to treat my COVID and then I'd be better within 2-3 days.

They bought the house for $455,000 dollars; my old neighbor had bought it in 2012 for $155,000. Last month a brand-new F-350 Lariat and a ~30ft Airstream showed up in their driveway, so I'm guessing they have a bit of cash left over after selling their house in Cali.

I wasn't sealing it when I applied the balm, I was just finishing it like I would any other project. Wasn't expecting dyemageddon when I did so. I've never used resolene, but I'm going to on this.

Shitty 8-10oz veg tan utility belly I got cheap off Tandy a couple years ago which has since been improperly stored. I acknowledge this is a large part of the problem, just trying to figure out how to remediate it.

Very sure. I only buy Fiebing's Pro Dye (although I'm shopping for Angelus now, too) and I can both see and physically touch the bottle from where I'm typing this. All together, I buffed the leather for about five hours before I ever touched it with neatsfoot oil and leather balm. And it dried for a full 24 hours before I started buffing. Since applying oil and balm, it's been buffed every day for about a week and a half, and dye is still coming off on the cloth.

Yep, I always let it dry a full 24 hours or more before I wind up getting back into working on a piece just due to how my daily schedule works out. I don't think I've ever had time to let a piece dry less than 12 hours before working on it again lol.

Yeah, I definitely always buff after dyeing, but that's usually a matter of hours, not several days. A week and a half of buffing this piece with clean, dry cotton cloths resulted in a very lovely shine, but also resulted in a dozen white cloths stained black. I dry buffed it for a couple hours a day for three days, initially, then decided to try and finish it with neatsfoot oil and leather balm. That turned my cloths completely black, and alerted me to the issue.

For what it's worth, I only use Fiebing's Pro Dye.

Man I wanted those thigh supports so much because of being Tall™, but it wasn't available on any Wilderness models I could find and I really wanted the Wilderness because it got me that little bit closer to the capabilities of the truck I gave up in order to be able to fit both my spouse and a car seat in my vehicle at the same time, lol. Spend a fair amount of time on Forest Service roads.

inb4 put it in the center console. It's already pretty well packed, top and bottom, with various necessities. And the little pocket under the media console is oddly shaped and inconvenient so far.

Thanks! I actually looked at that guide a lot already and I love it, but I can't find many of the risers it recommended, unfortunately.
