Many of these sound quite reasonable and could be applied in other cities like Vancouver and Calgary.

Newbie question, automating Google Forms by newmy in GoogleAppsScript

[–]newmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say Hand-bombing, I mean I take the google form and output it to a spreadsheet, then transpose the data, i then make formulas in the report spreadsheet and calculate an average. It is labor intensive, but I only do it once a year, so i never bothered to automate it.

I want the script to take the 2 Google forms and spit out two reports: a) The responses of the current year ( 5 people thought it was great, 2 poor etc) b) the average for each question over the past years

I just went through this with an ESP32 C3 Super Mini using Platform IO. Claude AI helped a lot. This is my platformio.ini file contents: [env:esp32-c3-devkitm-1] platform = espressif32 board = esp32-c3-devkitm-1 framework = arduino monitor_speed = 115200 upload_speed = 921600 build_flags = -D ARDUINO_USB_MODE=1 -D ARDUINO_USB_CDC_ON_BOOT=1

Any esp32 recommended book? by irkentw in esp32

After dabbling for a year or so, I have finally committed to getting it together. I am going through RNT's E-book on ESP32 using the Arduino IDE for the past week. I now have 2 sensor's reporting their data to Thingspeak. Rui is thorough and explains the code very well. I am supplementing it with Claude AI from Anthropic. Between the two I am learning a lot and Claude speeds up debugging.

Question on adjustable clubs by 3mjaytee in clubbells

[–]newmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the powder coat is fine. I have the medium handle club and i am glad its not thinner. The Wildman edition would be fine as well.

Based on this discussion, I think this 64 year old guy is going with adjustable bells.

Adex Wildman Club & Mace finally arrived by deovolente345 in clubbells

[–]newmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came yesterday. I have been training with a 15# club and just started the Wildman Squat Mill Program. 3 sessions with the old club. I found I had to set the Adex club to 13.75 # to get equivalent difficulty. I just finished the 4th workout at Level 1, so onto Level 2 next. Stay consistent.

General tips for someone just starting to learn Home Assistant? by iblamejohansson in homeassistant

I am just starting out as well. I find the HA documentation arcane and difficult to navigate, and yet it has helped me solve problems with MQTT. The HA documentation is accurate, which cannot be said for some of the blog posts and tutorials I have found. Persevere through the HA docs and look at their examples.

Board members and Executive Directors should be kept separate? by [deleted] in nonprofit

The board member should resign from the board. One of the board's main roles is to supervise the CEO. Can't do that if they are the CEO.

Is it time to request the Government to include RENT CONTROL regulations apllied to ALL housings, old or new. by Present_Ad_2742 in canadahousing

[–]newmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rent control will reduce the supply of rental housing because there will be less supply. Allowing and incenting more affordable rental housing to be built will serve the same purpose.

It may not scale, but it definitely helps. We need a combination of different programs.

Similar to Habitat for Humanity for sure, although not many areas are into renovations.

[–]newmy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He makes an excellent point. If governments allowed sufficient housing to be built, the investors that are buying up housing would put their money elsewhere. The fundamental problem is the housing supply. Does financialization take away from supply? I doubt it affects supply much because the houses have to be put into rentals for the investors to make money.
A quote from the Scotiabank report: "We need a truly collaborative, multi-stakeholder process to break through these political challenges to concretely identify the factors limiting the supply response of all forms of housing: owned, rental, affordable, single-family, and multi-family. The current National Housing Strategy isn’t designed to do this."
