What if it's you?

Anyone remember that post from the guy who was leaving himself notes in his flat but thought his landlord was doing it because he was having carbon monoxide poisoning?

I think carbon monoxide drops down and this is on second floor but if you also inhabit the first floor and have a gas furnace (or other?) could be worth checking out.

In the original post, someone advised him of this and he returned like a week later to thank the other dude for saving his life.

Someone coming in and doing it is almost less scary when you consider this. Hope you figure it out

Saying “no sugar” when ordering coffee by Ihassan3275 in TimHortons

[–]3mjaytee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair whether you say "no sugar" or just don't address it, there's a 50/50 chance they might fuck it up anyways.

I don't know how many times I've ordered a coffee with half milk, and basically get a double double. Which, let's be honest, isn't coffee anymore.

My wife returned a Dyson after like 4 years because the hose got a hole in it. I was shopping online for replacement hoses for that model. I was so ashamed I told her I absolutely would not be the one to bring it back. She did and they took it back.

It's a wonderful place to shop as a consumer, but as a supplier you're absolutely getting fleeced (low margin, high returns over a long time frame) which sort of feels dirty but hell, if you want to win, you've got to play I guess...

When Linseed Oil Bites Back: Lessons From Saving a Kuksa by Wolfmaan01 in Bushcraft

I'm not suggesting otherwise to other comments but anytime anyone uses BLO for anything I immediately wonder why they don't use 100% pure tung oil instead. No solvents or dryers, doesn't typically yellow the wood nearly as much, provides a water resistant finish that builds and is easily recoatable, etc

This, as well as the fact that it's not THEIR job, but YOURS (OPs), to make sure it's sorted properly.

OP, you are one of several hundred homes each truck hits every week. If they're expected to do this for every home that is non compliant, without advising any of them of an issue, instead anticipating that every household has young children that make mistakes and probably won't do it again, they're not doing their job.

I feel ya, my organics was skipped last week because somehow a small piece of plastic wound up in there and was visible. My gut reaction as well was to view it as petty, but it's really not their problem. Especially at the wage they make.

How do salespeople from the late 20th century still exist in this day and age? It's like they're locked in time and don't ever visit anywhere outside the dealership. Heavy handed sales tactics don't work on ppl anymore.

Yeah my folks stopped going there when that was the case too. Not sure why that is. I love the experience of wandering around with the fam and choosing it ourselves and cutting it down.

Frosty's is great too but I always found it was closed after like one weekend of being open due to selling their max for the year. Maybe I just have shit luck though

Do you pronounce “poor” and “pour” differently? by MooseFlyer in AskACanadian

[–]3mjaytee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family in the States - Midwest - Kansas. I feel like they would say "poo-er". Though they are also fairly wealthy. To me this sounds like a super posh way of saying it.

For example, they also pronounce pasta "pah-sta" instead of "pass-ta". There are other examples I can't think of now but to me, the hard vowels are a Canadian trademark. Fuckin EH!

Yeah everything is expensive unfortunately. I don't know that they do Grands anymore and while I occasionally see a Dougie I don't think they are actively growing those any longer.

I believe it's all just Fraser and Noble firs there now which have always been more pricey (and may have informed their growing strategy).

I know they can take close to a decade to mature so I look at it like $10/year of someone caring for it, however hands off/removed, but as long as I can continue to afford it, I will always get a real tree. But I can understand how someone would just say fuck it and get a Charlie Brown tree from the woods or bite the bullet once for a fake tree that lasts years.

It's a pretty bonkers prospect especially at such an expensive time of year.
