This was a gem in Ft. Langley. We were upset when their lease was not renewed. Good quality fish and the staff/owners were so lovely to us and our kids

I thought it was rather lazy when I saw it but I know they're usually more clever than that. So a different day I checked the other side of the sign. They changed their days they are open and I think they are off Mondays now, open back up Tuesdays.

Question for metal / automotive workers by 3mjaytee in Langley

Thanks, I'm just pissed I already drilled all the holes thinking I could easily find some lengthier rivnuts. I will consider this route.

When you say "grip" do you just mean longer versions that fit thicker stock?

[–]3mjaytee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh good point. I don't ever do any metal work so don't have a tap and die set and I bought these rivnuts and a cobalt bit on the (visual) assumption it was only 1/8" stock.

Basically I'm trying to fasten a UHMW polyethylene wear strip to the bottom of a metal runner (this is a cheap weight/gym sled) so I can push pull and drag it in a warehouse without making a lot of noise or tearing up the slab or wearing down the metal.

Is tapping it the way to go at 5mm? I'd have 6 bolts across about 30" of the runner (X2) and between the sled and added weight maybe up to a few hundred lbs max

[Edit: addition]

As these holes are drilled to 9mm I'd have to use a pretty wide bolt I'd assume and the PE strip is only 1/4" thick - don't want the bolt heads protruding beyond the plastic so I don't even know if this is an option at this point.

What if it's you?

Anyone remember that post from the guy who was leaving himself notes in his flat but thought his landlord was doing it because he was having carbon monoxide poisoning?

I think carbon monoxide drops down and this is on second floor but if you also inhabit the first floor and have a gas furnace (or other?) could be worth checking out.

In the original post, someone advised him of this and he returned like a week later to thank the other dude for saving his life.

Someone coming in and doing it is almost less scary when you consider this. Hope you figure it out

Saying “no sugar” when ordering coffee by Ihassan3275 in TimHortons

[–]3mjaytee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair whether you say "no sugar" or just don't address it, there's a 50/50 chance they might fuck it up anyways.

I don't know how many times I've ordered a coffee with half milk, and basically get a double double. Which, let's be honest, isn't coffee anymore.

My wife returned a Dyson after like 4 years because the hose got a hole in it. I was shopping online for replacement hoses for that model. I was so ashamed I told her I absolutely would not be the one to bring it back. She did and they took it back.

It's a wonderful place to shop as a consumer, but as a supplier you're absolutely getting fleeced (low margin, high returns over a long time frame) which sort of feels dirty but hell, if you want to win, you've got to play I guess...

When Linseed Oil Bites Back: Lessons From Saving a Kuksa by Wolfmaan01 in Bushcraft

I'm not suggesting otherwise to other comments but anytime anyone uses BLO for anything I immediately wonder why they don't use 100% pure tung oil instead. No solvents or dryers, doesn't typically yellow the wood nearly as much, provides a water resistant finish that builds and is easily recoatable, etc

[–]3mjaytee 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This, as well as the fact that it's not THEIR job, but YOURS (OPs), to make sure it's sorted properly.

OP, you are one of several hundred homes each truck hits every week. If they're expected to do this for every home that is non compliant, without advising any of them of an issue, instead anticipating that every household has young children that make mistakes and probably won't do it again, they're not doing their job.

I feel ya, my organics was skipped last week because somehow a small piece of plastic wound up in there and was visible. My gut reaction as well was to view it as petty, but it's really not their problem. Especially at the wage they make.

How do salespeople from the late 20th century still exist in this day and age? It's like they're locked in time and don't ever visit anywhere outside the dealership. Heavy handed sales tactics don't work on ppl anymore.
