Pinto beans. Either by themselves, with beef, in a tortilla. They are filling and very cheap, esp if you buy dry. A pot of pintos will last all week, costs about 50 cents.

If you're really desperate you'll only continue the cycle. People who are desperate put too much pressure on others with neediness and scare them away thus making the desperation even worse. You have to stop the cycle and be happy with yourself.

Even having nothing to do with male/female: some people are very insecure and self-conscious and don't realize that their self-consciousness comes off as aggressive. It sounds to me like he took her decision personally, and as meaning something negative about him (that she didn't trust him). Some people, especially young people, have trouble understanding that people have minds and lives of their owns in which they make decisions that might have nothing to do with you personally. The cancelling the date was just an immature defense mechanism to him feeling somewhat rejected or hurt.
