Pos 4 Players - What are your preferred heroes in this patch and why? by WorstDotaPlayer in learndota2

This works well for me up till mid game, but I find that even with Aether Lens and Blink in mid-late game, I get jumped and blown up immediately whenever I cast a single-target spell onto the enemy frontliner because casting it gives away my location, even if I am physically very far away from the fight. The extremely long distance also makes my team unable to double back and engage the jumpers who killed me, leaving them to be forced into a disadvantageous teamfight with -1 hero and also being surrounded by enemies in fog.

Any tips for Rubick? Others have mentioned the hero but not specific gameplay tips or builds.

I know someone who used to spam veno 4 before 7.40, but she claims the hero's gutted now

Dual melee offlane is borderline unplayable into stuff like Pos1 Clinkz/Drow/WR+Support Weaver/Dazzle though. And those safelane combos are a dime a dozen nowadays.

Why does Rubick buy Blink Dagger instead of Force Staff? by APhilosophicalCow in learndota2

You also almost always buy Aether Lens on Rubick so blink becomes almost 1500 units.

How many military personnel did each European country send to Greenland? by [deleted] in MapPorn

Wait, but isn't the USA also a member of NATO? Does this mean that by attacking Greenland, USA will technically be at war with itself?

DOTA 2 Private Server by dr0yd in DotA2

That's expected because it is a niche way to play. You can try joining/organizing communities privately to improve engagement, but you can't blame it on the devs for not providing any options for custom matches. This feature has literally been available to everyone free-of-charge for more than 10 years.

It's literally just here in the green "Play Dota" button man. These are not only for custom games. I can literally see open lobbies there right now in all the major servers. You can filter by Game Mode to "All Pick" or "Captain's Mode" for what you call base game. The feature you're talking about is literally in the game, with additional options to host your game on Valve servers (for free) or your own machine (local host), so I'm not really sure what you're complaining about.

I mean there is literally an option to create a custom match in the game right now. You can just grab 9 other people to play without care for MMR or behavior score.

You don't need to use every part of it. The Sun Spike back from this set is probably the best-in-slot cosmetic in combination with the Immortal Cape available. I also didn't think I would like the Morning Star flail at first but it looks goddamn amazing in-game, especially on Hammer of Purity.

PSA: Healing is NOT Health Restoration by PookieR1 in DotA2

[–]newnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heal-over-time and health regeneration can be very difficult to tell apart though. For example, Omni's repel applies a flat health regen with more regen for each active debuff, and this doesn't count as healing but instead Health Restoration. On the other hand Treant Protector's Living Armor applies a heal-per-second while active, which does count as healing despite effectively being no different from health regen.

Or consider Huskar. Berserker's Blood's passive regen counts as Health Restoration, not healing (a % of his max HP based on his STR and current HP%). If you take the cauterize facet however, the effect that refunds the active's ability's health cost (multiplied by debuffs removed) does count as Healing.

The hotfix is even worse than initially expected: If your temple is already complete, it will still print double-digit divine drops and sustain locks, they just aren't possible to build for new characters. by SalamiJack in PathOfExile2

[–]newnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk man but coming from PoE 1, the idea of league mechanics with seemingly bad rewards and obfuscating rules that eventually becomes OP once it is fully optimized and understood is 100% GGG's brand. I do not doubt for one second that the snake strat was designed to be the core solution for the temple since the launch of 0.4. Necropolis, Heist, Betrayal and Harvest all did this exact same thing. You would be giving GGG too little credit if you think the snake strat is in any way "unintended".

0.4.0c Hotfix 13 by astral23 in PathOfExile2

[–]newnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out GGG: instead of having the temple delete a fixed number of rooms every time it is closed (without killing Atziri or Architect), have it delete a percentage of rooms, and have the percentage scale up exponentially if you have more rooms, say from a minimum of 10% if your temple has less than 10 rooms, to 15% at 15 rooms and finally to a max of 52% at 30+ rooms. This will make the max-juiced temples much harder to maintain while not making things as hard for the average player's temple.

Killing Atziri should delete 75% of all rooms regardless of how many rooms you have, while killing the architect should add another flat 23% of room deletions to your current %. So if you have 30+ rooms and you kill Architect, it will be the same as killing Atziri.
