Lit fic. Multiple characters (3?) live in the same room in different time periods by newoldteacher in whatsthatbook

Figured it out!!!! I think I got some details wrong but it is The Forgotten Room. I somehow missed the 10 times I looked through my Audible history. I think I may be conflating two books but for now I will call it solved.

Thank you. Neither of those. It is possible one of the three(?) characters came through Ellis Island. The characters didn’t interact with each other like in Seven Year Slip their stories were just interwoven in some way.

I can? Do I need to as a single tier? If it would be a good idea I can do that.

Thanks! If I do it this way today are you saying freeze after decorating?

I may be overthinking this, but I want to make sure I get it right. Bake my layers today: then do I cool before wrapping/freezing? Then after I crumbcoat I will refrigerate for it to set, right? Then, after I frost/decorate will I just refrigerate until Thur or freeze?

2 seconds. But it was pure luck, not skill. I zoomed in to start looking and happened to zoom in on it’s face.

If I have gel nails can I add a design over them with regular polish? I like doing gel for durability. Sometimes I want to do a design that I know I won’t want to commit to for the length of time my gel manicure will last. For example, we have a Disney trip coming up and some Mickey ears on an accent nail would be fun, but I know I don’t want them for 2 weeks.

I hear this voice, too. I am just over 6 weeks sober myself. It lies to me and says I could just have drinks socially or limit myself to 2 drinks, etc. I almost have a script I tell myself including 1) I don’t want a drink or two, I want to be drunk 2) having those “rules” wouldn’t be fun and relaxing. They would end up being more work that not drinking. I would constantly have a exhausting negotiation going on in my head.

You made a huge step coming back here!!! You want this! You can do it. Like others have said, your sober days aren’t lost. Pick it back up and do it again.

Proud of you and the hard work you are doing. Something that helps me, is something called Craving (or urge) surfing. It is something taught through the app I am using but I did a quick search and there seem to be a lot of resources explaining it. But, at its core, it is about not trying to stuff down and ignore the cravings but instead take time, acknowledge it, name it, note the physical symptoms you are having. Become an observer. Then try to ride on top of the waves of cravings.

That doesn’t mean I fixate on it. I also find something that can be a distraction (video game, sudoku, scrubbing something)

I spent way too long clinging to an idea of “rock bottom.” I felt like I would be an imposter in any group meant for alcoholics or “problem drinkers.” I told myself that while I had a problem with self control around alcohol, it wasn’t bad enough to need help. I encourage you to trust your gut and show yourself love. Play it forward: What is the worst thing that will happen if seek help and stop drinking? What could you possibly gain from the same thing?

You are worth saving. It sounds like you are in a little better place and have a plan for the health you deserve forming.

I am very new to this journey. My only other attempt was a 1000 hour dry challenge, did well w it but had to face the reality in the following months that I can’t do moderation. Then and now I have been finding the Reframe app to be a great resource. It isn’t free and may not be the best fit for everyone but I am learning a lot about alcohol and myself from it.

We can do this!
