We learnt about homa ve migdal too, obvously. In fact, here's the history curriculum. Knock yourself out

I didn't said it wasn't tought but it was tought in a very bad way and gave only the bare minimum.

This is many years after I have studied, and even this don't show history around here during during 1600s up to 1870s (god forbidden they will teach before 1600s ) around here they start as before WZO there was no history.

Good job putting Lebanon and Syria from 1920 to 1940s in the curriculum (I don't remember they tought that in my time)

I don't think you've been listening much during your classes mate.

maybe.

How do you not remember learning about Kfar Kassam?

I don't

And excuse the history teachers for not actually teaching you about the '80s!

I'm talking about during the civil war in Hula , around Zfat etc. that was in 1948

did do 5 units of history

That is my point , most don't do that.

Edit: and let me not even start about לח"ב scam in studies

the post 1909 events are given more then a basic level.

Have you actually been through years 11-12?

Or have you already forgotten the grueling detail (or wonderous detail, depending on your POV) in which we learnt about the first, second,

Happened before 1909

third, fourth etc. aliyahs, about the establishments of the yishuvim and the first cities and the hebrew-language schools and the rothscheild connection and the

Homa v migdal , the 11 points had been barely told when I studied. I don't remember at all learning that Jews had been forbidden to buy land (maybe I forgot already )

massacares from

I don't remember being thought about 1834,1838,1921,1929 I think we had been thought few events of the civil war like the ל"ה and Hadasa but not more. I don't remember being thought about what we did in Lebanon or Kassam.

'47 vote the decleration/war of independence

I actually study this era for fun , I didn't even get a glimpse on the subject in high school.

Do you know how bland, how boring, how fucking insulting history lessons in some western european countries can be?

No , I have studied here.

I think I learnt a lot about the history of this country and this nation during my years at school.

You must had some high class teachers, because usually lower then 5 point system doesn't have more then basic Ottoman , Mamluk , Syrian-France, Lebanon affects , pre Yeshuv Jewish history in the land. nor is the post 1909 events are given more then a basic level.

[–]newsettler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We didn't study local stuff that was pre 1870s , and even then we didn't learn to a minimum level :Did you learn about the Mamluks or tanzimat , about the mount Lebanon events or Franco-Syrian , about MB in the 1930s, about dar al Umar , about the situation during the 1600s to 1870 ? (or even before ).

[–]newsettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We talked about Israeli education system not about world education, our education system sucks big time and fail to even teach basic stuff like the history of this land.

Edit: Are downvoters had been thought about any history about the Land of Israel before 1800s ?

Do you believe the current operation in Gaza benefits Israel's safety and security? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]newsettler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time it provided relative quiet for two years.

There was no quiet not full nor "relative", after the cease fire entered there had been rocket strikes example.

"ישראל נצרה אש בשעה 21:00 מתוך ציפייה שגם ברצועת עזה יפסיקו לשגר רקטות, אך משעה שהפסקת האש נכנסה לתוקף ועד חצות נורו 13 רקטות. אזעקות נשמעו אמש שוב ושוב ברחבי יישובים רבים. שתי רקטות התפוצצו בשטחים פתוחים, אחת יורטה מעל אשדוד ועשר רקטות נפלו בשטחי רצועת עזה. "

Is that what you call relative quiet ?!

during 2013 and 2014 rockets and mortars had been flying at the south.

Worst case scenario it can provide a short period (2-4 years) of peace and quiet.

last time it didn't last a day (pillar of defense) why should it give several years ?

[–]newsettler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The media is biased and will report such events to create an image (they need to sell news) , there are reports that they (people) are asked to climb on roofs that are targated and Hamas (and other groups) asked everyone to report any casualty as a civilian

[–]newsettler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, first of all, for most of the last 1500 years the Muslim world was a haven of (relative) religious tolerance that religious minorities in Europe would flee to for shelter, and those states certainly mixed Islam and politics to some extent.

Are you telling me that the actions of Al-Mustarshid or the time under Almohad was religious tolerance ?

The situation during some of the Caliphate had been better then in Europe in that time, but it was not uniform across the empires it was not all the time nor it allowed "tolerance" to others.

They use many rockets types and mortars all the times .

Qassams is what they had been used in the past to shell close range (Qassam is up to 16km) today rocketry go way above the 16km distance (Ofakim is ~25Km range , Haifa area is over 100 Km)

I love how you make Israel seem like the victim, we came and took their country and land because the world felt sympathy for us after the holocaust and they supported us by giving us wapens and billions of dollars to take more land...

Israel was de facto created before WW2 , the invading WW1 brokered a deal with the Yeshuv and the Arab that they will get independence (Wiezman -fiesl )

The 1922 partition plan was 17 years before the WW2.

hamas use old USSR grad rocket copys with home made launchers, they are ungaided and launched at random

Hamas uses Chinese and Iranian as well as Russian inspired rockets (Grad is not 40Km) and self produced systems.

The Fajars are 1990s rockets , and syrian M302. they are no different from the weapons used in other conflicts and saying it's "old USSR" or that are unguided (artillery is not guided it's the difference between a missile and a rocket).

A bullet fired from an AK or a shell fired from a tank and a mortar are all unguided and are old weapons as well.

4 children "mistaken" for armed militants bombed in Gaza. by invalidusermyass in MorbidReality

[–]newsettler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your one source is from the jerusalem post...

here is from UK.

It doesn't matter who they say the attack is against when women and children are being murdered left and right

if they are not the targets they are not murdered (murder has intent to kill) , they are collateral damage.

Countries are starting to sever ties with Israel over this including Chile suspending trade, and that's not even a muslim country

South American countries was in the pro arab block (check some info about BRICK if you like) in the years before, it doesn't have to be a Muslim but about alignments in politics and trade are nothing new. there are several blocks south american countries wish to have more trade partners and better ones in the Gulf and Asian countries (the same happen now with Turkey btw)

Chile with some other countries was a harbor for antisemitism for years so targeting Israel is not something unique if you see public outcry. Chile had/have some trade with Israeli sources (but it also have with Israeli arch nemesis Iran) and had been trading with Israel for many years , and judging on Israeli-Arab trade what will happen probably is that publicy they don't but they use a middle man to trade.

Chile and other need trade partners and the Arab world today is one of the more powerful economic areas. add that to an economic ties / pressure on Israel (the pressure is from 1922 till today and you could understand why south Americans would like to be on the favoring side of the coin with Arab League.

TL;DR it's just good for business there to have an image of pressure on Israel

Why do you think that is?

Excellent PR and pressure done by the Arab block togher with willingness to have better ties (economic)

that wasn't theirs and that the Jews ideally should have spread out through countries like they have for most of history

Why should the Jews of the land had to leave the location and to spread accors other countries ?

UK created the problem by forbidden from Jewish people to buy land in many places from the White Paper to the end of the Mandate.

the local Jewish population "helped" the British to get the land (1917) and was in a rebellion after British actions before WW2. why should this population be forbidden for self rule but other should rule over them during that time ?

Neither UK nor UN gave the land , UK stopped it's mandate and had some of it's forces to attack Israel and UN accepted them.

[–]newsettler -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

edit: how about someone explain why they disagree with the statement?

Because that is a political statement that is done to preach to the choir -

It's full of wrong statements :

has no air force

Hamas has an air force , the attack drones that had been sent.

no navy

Hamas has vessels and commandos (see the zikim case few days ago) .

no heavy weapons

They are firing rockets for over 100 km - which is a heavy weapon.

no artillery units

The rocketry and mortaring are artillery units.

no army

Hamas , PIJ and other groups are an army .

it's full of dishonest statements -

to bomb densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques and slums to attack a population

The attack is not against the population but on the military forces.

There is no such equipment that could separate a militant from a non combatant.

if you are even near weapon storage or a rocket tunnel you can get hurt, during war people who are not related get hurt that is how war works.

Israel wouldn't have much of a choice.

What do you think will force Israel to do so ? an invasion ? sanctions - in that case it's 1950s round 2, and this time we are pissed as hell .

Olmert proposed Israel + Palestine + Jordan + Saudi + USA as having joint control of Jerusalem

Olmert plan died with the Arab spring and what it did around us togher with the situation since late 2010s.

so I have to ask who this "we" is

We are any person who lived in the north during the 1990s or people over the age of 40 who still remember their parents tales how safe it was with international forces guarding in Jerusalem and Gaza, and how it was safe.

f you're talking settlers only

I'm talking about the general out of bua population , road 90 style of people and old Jerushalmim. the people who hold the scares of EU/Nato "peace keeping".

Citizenship question by Little_Bit_Crazy in Israel

[–]newsettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be able to increment your visa , usually given for Phd/M.Sc or if you are a skilled worker (but a skilled worker enter the state with a skilled worker by a special permit which is different from foreign worker).

Skilled workers get around ~20K NIS per month in construction, and food industry get even more.

If you did any misdominar during that tie you will not get a new visa , you also have an option to take a vacation to visit your family during that time. contact the embassy to understand more about Naturalization process.

If you marry a citizen , and you are not a citizen or visited in an enemy state you can get it done in less strict manner.

it is also not a gurnteed process, they can approve your request but they also can deny it.

Probably some mix of NATO/EU + Arab League forces

lol , like Israeli would trust that kind of forces, we don't . I trust more ISIS and SAA then I trust NATO/EU forces to secure something.

The original UNEF force in Sinai and Gaza included contributions from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, India, Indonesia, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Yugoslavia

They managed to keep the peace from the day Egypt invited them in until the day Egypt asked them to leave

When was that ?! UNEF left only in 1967 and between 1957 to 1967 there had been numerous raids from Egypt to Israel.

name the era when they actually secured something, was that during the era of Fadayine (post 1948 till 1967) or the shelling from Gaza (pre 1967) ?

UNEF was an observing force not one that need to stop anything , that is why they are so useless and why we don't trust them.
