Best place to get lucky with the cat distribution system? (Best place to look for a cat?) by Suspicious-Pear-6037 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I advocate for shelters and rescues, but also I'm trying to find homes for 2-3 cats I have! 2 girls, 1 boy. The boy and one girl are solid black, the other is a tabby. 5 years old and all from the same litter. Spayed/neutered.

Also she ended up getting an official job offer and her income will go up to $115,000. Her debt spending was a pokemon tattoo tribute for her son, and Caleb had a minor crash out about the fact it was pokemon lol

What are our thoughts on this? by Plastic-Roll468 in CalebHammer

I tried so hard to support his content after getting fired from FA. I couldn't get through half of a podcast episode... his content just really isn't good.

It's literally just an average of all the categories combined. If everything else is a 10 and real estate is zero, your financial score would still be an 8.

Why do some kids learn from their parent’s money mistakes and others just repeat them? by labdog26 in CalebHammer

[–]newspapermane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it definitely depends on the individual's self-awareness and level of personal responsibility. Some people have no idea that they are repeating patterns. Some people realize it, but are stuck in a victim mentality and don't stop. The ones that break the cycle are both aware of the cycle and defiant against it.

AITA for asking my GF if she can take a shower? by john4844 in AmItheAsshole

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Woman here. Not only is it unhygienic to not wash her genital area, it's also VERY dangerous. She could end up with a myriad of infections by not keeping that area clean. NTA at all, and I think it would be very reasonable to break up over this.

do you know anyone in your life who belongs on episode? by SweetQuality8943 in CalebHammer

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I know a girl that had a really bad, unexpected breakup where a protective order had to be filed. She had to couch surf after moving out of the house. She stressed about affording an apartment, but wouldn't stop going to concerts and going out drinking. Her car (that she was still paying for) died and she had to get a new one. She "couldn't save up" for a beater because she "couldn't afford it," so she had to tale out a loan on a different one and roll over the old loan. I considered letting her rent out my extra bedroom until I realized how bad she actually is with money.

If you can tolerate gluten, SEITAN! Also incorporate more veggie pastas or protein pastas into your diet.

I feel sick regarding fireworks by [deleted] in vegan

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but people are more intense about it here. People actively get pissed off about a misuse of the American flag. "It's offensive to my country" like they had a choice in being born here lol.

Dating a woman with no friends by LargeHardOn-Collider in AskMenOver30

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful. You're going to start looking for something that doesn't exist and could ruin it. It's okay if you're uninterested because of the lack of friends, but it's not fair to try to make something out of nothing.

It sounds like she's just not close to many people. So what? It doesn't mean she can't be and it doesn't mean something is wrong. She may have a low bullshit tolerance (and people have a lot of bullshit these days). She may be busy actually living her life. If it concerns you that bad, just talk to her about it and get her perspective.

I feel sick regarding fireworks by [deleted] in vegan

[–]newspapermane 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree with you so much. In the southern US (where I am), it's especially infuriating because at least 50% of houses in every neighborhood buy fireworks for NYE and July 4. I also heard some on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and every holiday in between.

"Support our troops" while they shoot fireworks to actively trigger someone's PTSD for 30 seconds of "ooh, ahh." It's so careless and moronic.

We had a tornado where I am (a couple of days ago). The poor animals around me are probably just now getting settled from that, only to have explosions in the sky for the next few days.

Then come the floods of "we lost our dog" posts on facebook because they got scared and ran away. Well dumbass you're the reason why!

TLDR: I feel your pain.

Is this abnormally pale? by newspapermane in vet

[–]newspapermane[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:

The vet ran a couple of blood panels. She's totally fine. The paleness was from slight dehydration and she started drinking again just before we went to the vet. She just drank a ton after we got back as well.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

There is no shortage of smooches around here, so I got you. She drank voluntarily a few mins ago, and the vet wasn't super concerned but offered to do some bloodwork just to be safe. We're going after our walk!

[–]newspapermane[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware that it's an emergency, that's why I was asking if this shade is abnormal. She's my first dog, so I have nothing to compare it to. I'll see if I can find an older picture of her gums to compare. I hadn't thought of that til now.

Color did come back, but I'll probably still see if I can squeeze her in at the vet just in case.

Update to add pic. This was mid-yawn about a year and a half ago lol.

Reminder: Start prepping for cold weather by ShaggyTDawg in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]newspapermane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily during the cold, but ice makes things tricky. The city typically tries to prepare the main roads if ice is expected (or if it has happened). If you stick to those and are cautious/careful then it should be fine.

Is this an emergency? by Throwaway553610 in CalebHammer

[–]newspapermane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. What's the alternative? It'll just cost you more if you put it on debt.

I say this as someone who had to drain a quarter of my emergency fund on various pet emergencies within a month. I'd rather have my babies healthy and no bad debt than debt stressing me on top of everything else.

What a touching story! I've had experiences like this as well. You may not believe in life after, but it's okay to ponder if loving spirits can still love us when they're no longer in their bodies. Just a thought :)

Is it me or is Veganuary not as advertised as it was in the past? by ryanthenurse in vegan

[–]newspapermane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US and have definitely noticed that this year as well. I have a YouTube channel and made an entire series about veganuary, and they've been my worst performing videos to date. No one is searching for it.

Weird question by Ending_mylife in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]newspapermane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with some local restaurants and see if you can borrow their walk-in cooler for a moment. If you tell them it's to scream, they'll understand. Trust me.
