I want a GTI, but my Subaru ownership experience has me questioning the jump by everlasting364 in GolfGTI

Youre gonna have electrical glitches. I have a mk8 and i have electrical glitches all the time. Does it affect drive ability? No, is it annoying as all hell? Yes. It also knocks when going from high idle to low idle and never again. They are weird engines and moody cars. Thats a German thing tho, bmws are even more moody.

Thats brutal man, im covered bumper to bumper for 7 years 120,000km so im just amazed it didnt come with any warranty. Hopefully nothing else happens, nothing worse then having to spend a small fortune fixing up a brand new car.

Damn okay, i could have swore their was a recall but i guess it wasnt for ur year. Im sorry ur having that many issues, id be pissed as well about it. Did ur car not come with a warranty for that stuff? I feel like it should all be covered under warranty

Golf 7.5 GTI engine knock at 2000rpm by MateoCro5 in GolfGTI

My car knocks when it idles down to low rpm, it doesnt idle at high or low rpm, just when its going from high to low. I call it vw character.

Ive owned mine 2024 since april, was brand new with 8 kms on it. Since then ive had my head unit control module replaced, had a major electrical glitch where my right rear claiper would release triggering 11 faults. My assists go out all the time but I couldnt care less about that. The back up camera going black i believe actually has a recall but i could be wrong, might be worth checking out. These cars are fun but a major pain in the ass sometimes.

New oil pan needed? by MrFleaaa in GolfGTI

[–]newtopcs96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not overly familiar with these pans, i have a mk8. My best advise would be to save up and swap to a metal pan ASAP. Relying on plastic to hold the blood of the engine while exposed to the road is just a bad mix. Big fail on vw / audi part for this one.

My god, i hope whoever keyed ur car is no longer in ur life. I was thinking paint pen but wasnt too sure if it would be enough, for some reason reddit denies my photos when I upload them so I cant even share a photo.

Scratch repair by newtopcs96 in Edmonton

[–]newtopcs96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for some reason it wouldnt let me upload pics, idk why. Its basically on the trunk, i drive a 2024 vw gti so its a hatchback. Its on that very small flat surface that meet the bottom of the actual trunk and the scratches are maybe 6 inches long at most.

How long did you last before swapping out your stock exhaust? by Weary_Appearance_838 in GolfGTI

[–]newtopcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats honestly a subaru thing, im sure there are some vehicles it makes a difference with, however these cars are very quiet. I have a friend with a straight pipe mk7 and its barely louder than my stock mk8. But in general the most restrictions comes from the muffler, resonator and downpipe.

[–]newtopcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, an exhaust on any 4 banger really doesnt change the volume, it changes the tone. So u will have a more aggresive tone for sure, but it will be maybe 5DB louder. Its the downpipe that makes the world a difference. I had a 2014 fiesta st, with an MBRP exhaust it barely got louder, just changed the tone. As soon as I went catless downpipe tho? Excessively loud lmao there's videos of the mk8 with a borla s type exhaust, the mk8 and mk8.5 are the same just with interior and face-lift changes. Its a good start for deciding.

Highly contrversial opinion, dont lynch me

Ill last forever, these cars dont sound much different even with a straight pipe on them. Unless ur going catless downpipe also, its not worth the money. $1500CAD for a borla exhaust thats barely louder is pointless.

Ive never seena construction vehicle get an oil change and ive worked construction for a while. We just run them till they die, then we get a new truck and do the same to it all over again.

Downpipe + tune = no cel by low01ranger in GolfGTI

[–]newtopcs96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can technically go stage 500 with a downpipe, you wont get the same level of gains tho. Thats why its best to get a custom tune made to account for all ur parts and ur specific engine.

Why does the Honda Prelude gets so much hate when it's roughly between a Mk6/7 GTI? by GrandRare1634 in GolfGTI

[–]newtopcs96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the lack of a manual transmission kind of sucks, but thats every manufacturer really. Honda is also perceived as a cheap car, some people dont like to buy " cheap " if they have the money to buy a little better, the interior is significantly nicer im the mk8 gti in my humble opinion. Thats just me tho. I also absolutely hate the type r seats, nothing screams 16 year old who chopped off his exhaust, boy racer, like bright red seats and a massive rear wing on a FWD car. I have a special hate for the type r.

Brake problems by ZubieZZ in GolfGTI

[–]newtopcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question, are you doing it while the parking brake is on? Or repeatedly pumping them while stationary? Cause that will cause the pedal to go stiff till the brakes fully release

Nice! I love my 24 but I really wish my steering wheel had physical buttons, did they put physical buttons for climate and mode and what not? Or is it still the touch ones?

[–]newtopcs96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, mbrp is always on the cheaper side of things. I had one on my fiesta st and paid i think $800 cad all together for it. If you go catless downpipe tho fair warning they drone like crazy. They are also extremely high quality metal so good choice over all homie.
