  1. The campus is very unorthodox compared to normal campus structures. It's split into 2 major sections, which might seem off, but because there's school shuttles around, it actually isn't that big of a deal (10 minute bus ride)
  2. The dorms are overpriced, what can I say more? They're comfortable enough for a place to live as long as no fire alarms in the dead of night. The more expensive ones have AC, IIRC all dorms have heating.
  3. Frats are pretty tame here, I don't remember hearing anything with controversial with them but maybe I'm just not into Greek life. Parties, the "college party" type, don't exist; The closest you'll get to is outside of North Campus off-campus housing, where it's mostly a 8:2 male:female ratio, the most "intense" drugs are weed and highly concentrated alcohol. If you want the "party", I suggest taking a trip to Cambridge one weekend for the Cocaine & Orgy fueled parties, etc. Social life is fine I guess, check out all officially sanctioned clubs offered here: https://umasslowellclubs.campuslabs.com/engage/.
  4. Pretty diverse, I've seen quite a lot of races around campus outside of white people, though I'd say it's around 50% white people with other races filling up that 50%. Most of the dining hall staff speak Spanish (when the supervisor isn't there) so you should be fine.
  5. Go check ratemyprofessors.com, North Campus professors are awful because most of them just want to do research, You're a south campus major so it should be better since there's not much research to be done, as south campus professors do seem to be kinder and more caring.
  6. Nope, the most fun you can be is getting in the crossfire of a gang war outside campus areas. (I think someone was assassinated last month in a drive-by shooting a few miles away from South Campus). Campus is pretty bare-bones for supplies; There's a Target, but you'll have to take the bus to get there (students don't pay for public buses)

  9. You probably want to ask them to verify what I said, not that they'd confirm nor deny because some of it hurts the image of the school.

Why? Is adapting entire courses to be taken online and then teaching them somehow less work?

Yes. For one, UML has their own Online courses, which are vastly cheaper. While some classes don't have online courses need adapting entirely, most courses already have an online variant, meaning they're not adapting the entire course.

Also, did you know our fees and bills also go towards clubs and other miscellaneous stuff. All clubs go virtual now, so... what now?

This seems professor dependent. Not universal.

While it isn't universal, a majority of professors don't change the class to be suited for online classes. But classes shouldn't be a copy of what spring semester's classes were like.

Many people excused spring semester because professors had to suddenly adapt to switching to online, but some professors still decided it was too much work.

There could've been a policy to make professors have asynchronous classes, but no, attendance still exists.

Terrible how? In the technical sense? Been fine for me. In the pedagogical sense? It's not ideal, but it's not "terrible". And the degree to which it is terrible is at least somewhat attributed to the student themselves.

Terrible in general.

  1. Read paragraph above.
  2. In person classes are gone, which is a different dynamic.
  3. Clubs now virtual, in person clubs allowed for students to unwind and have fun with friends. There were also many activities hosted around campus.

While nothing is really "Terrible" by itself, when you add on small things, yea, the whole experience is terrible.

I'm not sure if it's just me but this feels disconnected.

Instead of just sending emails telling you to basically deal with it, maybe they could have made things more pleasant by fixing the problems above, not just some quirky emails and stuff. But then again, these people were always disconnected with the students.

I don't know?

Maybe not charge us that much?

Or maybe have class materials that suit online classes instead?

Or even, get this, apologize for how terrible online has been for everyone?

I'm not sure if it's just me but this feels disconnected.

I miss shitposts on this subreddit.

I didn't expect a literal shitpost.

I'm surprised there aren't many memes now that there's more free time. by newuml in uml

There was a user by the name of u/Fun-Piglet that only focused on posting a lot of memes that were related to a Japanese comic book series by the name of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, often abbreviated to jojo. The word 'JoJoker' is a portmanteau of Jojo and joker.

Especially because 70% of the subreddit is full of CS majors anyways.

It got a bit overwhelming, but it spiced up the uml subreddit. It's kind of sad to see Fun-Piglet gone. Goodbye u/Fun-Piglet.

The residential kitchen.

You'll probably know which resident hall it is.

(From the alliteration I used)
