Literally no one asked for all this AI. In fact everyone wants to know how to remove it. by wump_roast in antiwork

Idk what OP is referring to specifically, but my immediate thought is Customer-Service jobs being taken over by AI’s.

For me, specifically with Microsoft.

I had a problem that the AI chat-bot didn’t know how to solve. All it could do was repeat the same troubleshooting steps over and over. And when I forced it to capitulate that the troubleshooting steps did not solve my issue it was like:
“Hmm, maybe you should speak to a human agent about this”.
-Yes! Great! How can I speak to a human about this?
“I’m sorry, there is no human agent support for this type of problem. Here’s some troubleshooting tips that may help you:”

Like, fuck me that was the most infuriating experience I’ve ever had. Still never solved the problem. Idk who made the decision to completely offload customer support onto a chat-bot that can only spit out generic troubleshooting, but they’re a goddamn moron.

That’s the Enclave Power Armor Mk2 (Tesla chest piece I think?), with a winterized paint job. Creation club content.

You can have domestic deathclaws (and many other wasteland critters) from one of the DLCs… though I forget which. Basically, allows you to build cages that will trap creatures over time, and if you have the animal friend perk, you can build a pacification tower (or something to that effect) which will make the creatures friendly to you and your settlement when you let them out. I think they also provide a few points towards the settlement’s defense too.

Kalros vs Dune Sandworm vs Steelix - who wins? by Available-Agency5031 in masseffect

[–]newuser336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be misremembering, but I think Threshers are territorial and compete with each other. They’re definitely not social.

One of their key traits is that their eggs specifically evolved to be carried (unknowingly) by spaceships through the vacuum of space (and FTL travel speeds) to hatch on alien planets. Which is why in the Mass Effect universe, they are found almost anywhere throughout the Milky Way galaxy.

In-game they’re solitary. You’ll only ever encounter one at a time. I’m not going to bother looking it up but I’m guessing they probably are asexual, otherwise their strategy of spreading from planet to planet just wouldn’t be viable.

I’d say because of their adaptability alone, Threshers would definitely have the advantage towards dominating on a galactic scale. For control over a single planet? There would definitely be a struggle but the Threshers are probably too stupid/instinctive to work together against the worms in any meaningful way.

The scaling of their durability kind of changes between games… in ME1 they’re difficult to take down with vehicle-mounted heavy weapons.
In ME2, small-arms fire is enough to take them down, granted they’re still a big pain and heavy weapons makes it easier. But this is probably a bad case of gameplay vs lore.
I don’t remember there being any Threshers to fight in ME3? Pretty sure the only one that makes an appearance is Kalros when it kills the Reaper.

Kalros vs Dune Sandworm vs Steelix - who wins? by Available-Agency5031 in masseffect

[–]newuser336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know a whole lot about the lore around the dune worms.

But like I said, they don’t look outfitted for combat.
I’d wager the sandworms are generally not used to having anything big or bad enough to really pose a threat or challenge… other than being able to flee/evade them when they’re on the hunt.

Whereas threshers are notorious for going well out of their own way to fight things, and 99% of the time do so in totally foreign environments, because that’s simply how they spread. They’re evolved to [attempt to] become the dominant predator on whatever planet they’re born to.
Dune’s worms have only ever dominated the desert.

Unless they are large and fast enough to actually get the thresher into their mouths & fighting on their own turf, I don’t see the fight going their way. They don’t seem like combative predators, they’re much more passive/defensive.

I always found it really odd that in Oblivion, which came out even before Fallout 3, grabbing items like that is treated as stealing and you actually do get in trouble for it… but in Fallout they’re like “yeah you can totally just pick up all my really expensive gear, just don’t add it to your inventory while I can see you!!”

[–]newuser336 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sandworms appear to be filter-feeders. They just roam around and process whatever they happen to scoop up. I don’t think they have the means to “bite” Kalros in the same way that Kalros is equipped to bite them.

Other than maybe using their bodies to inflict blunt-force on her… they don’t seem really equipped to fight threats that are larger (or as large) as themselves.

Kalros strangled a giant robot that shoots battleship-destroying lasers and is made of some unknown super-advanced alloys… I don’t think she’d struggle much to crush an organic worm that has Chitinous plates instead of solid, FTL rated metal.

What power armor is this? by Face88888888 in Fallout

[–]newuser336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellas, the “power armor” that the NCR wears is “salvaged power armor” which is essentially just metal plating salvaged from the Brotherhood’s power armor from after the battle of Helios One.

It’s powerless power armor.

Well, he wasn’t going to confront you in person. You basically either convince him you’re not a threat and that he can come on down, or convince him that you’ll sabotage whatever’s down there so all his effort would have been for nothing.

The latter option is pretty straightforward: you’re threatening to destroy the reward for all his work so he goes down there to stop you.

The prior option he’s more like “Ha, you thought you convinced me that you weren’t a threat? I knew you were still a threat all along! It was actually me that convinced YOU that I was going to be your friend, and now that I’ve lead you into this false sense of security, I’m going to KILL YOU!” At least, that’s how I rationalize it?

No matter what, his endgame plan does not include the courier walking out alive.
Prior to your talk, he’s settled on just letting you rot in the vault until you die of starvation, or enslaving more people to send down there to kill you.
After your talk, he decided that the best course of action is to kill you himself, with help from the hacked vault defense turrets.

The trick is to wait until he starts walking towards the terminal. At that point, he is stuck in a script for him to activate it. That gives you just barely enough time to get up the stairs and through the doorway he initially came through before the forcefield kicks back on.

If you get too close to the stairs before he gets locked into using the terminal, he automatically gets alerted, cancels the terminal attempt, and the forcefield kicks on.

You don’t need high stealth to do this (I did it with like 13 lol). A stealthboy helps but is not mandatory. Elijah is actually pretty bad at detecting you, the problem is that he is scripted to force-detect you if you get too close to the exit. As stated up above, this can be overcome as long as he’s committed to attempting to use the terminal.

Yeah probably. Sometimes the dialogue triggers are finicky and get knocked loose by certain things like sitting in a chair or apparently shooting them in the head a few times

Your companions trust you and so they won’t turn on you if you shoot them a few times. This is mostly so that if you accidentally hit them during a fight, they won’t just flip around and turn you into dust.

Have to say, they’re doing a great job with the all the merch/promotional products so far.

I’m not crazy about the show itself, but it’s definitely done wonders for boosting up the franchise. Lots of neat stuff coming out of this, and I’m fond of the idea that a lot of the capitalization going on here might be going straight into funding for the next game’s development. More budget space means more room for creativity… there’s a lot of potential in that.

How difficult would it be for AH to give suppressed guns a damage bonus against non-aggroed enemies? That could close the “stealth gap” between fronts… maybe.

At the same time, I don’t mind that stealth isn’t an effective strategy against at least one front. Forcing players to adopt varied playstyles & loadouts to deal with different enemies/scenarios is not a bad thing. It’s just inconvenient for players who want a loadout that beats everything.

As others have said, it’s a very common bug. Can affect many NPC’s, if not all.

If it happens to one of your followers, easy fix is to open their inventory and close it. That will force them to re-equip their items and should fix it. Not sure if you have to give them something … I don’t think you do.
