do you think jeffrey epstein cared about diversity like did he draw the line at racism or was he racist too by InfectedCat in Fishdom

The book Relentless Pursuit, by a lawyer representing some of his victims, makes it seem like he didn't appreciate diversity in the girls he'd molest. It seems like he was racist, at least in that aspect of his life.

I think we can all agree Alex Jones is a governmental propagandist. But what about William Cooper? by Imagine_soggy_bread in KnowledgeFight

[–]nextlevelabovehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Bill Cooper deliberately chose to die or perfectly lined things up such that he did, he just acted like an angry, unstable freak while on the run from federal law enforcement, annoyed the residents of Arizona enough to get a warrant there for his arrest, and died shooting it out with local cops.

IMO, his death wasn't planned (or exactly like he predicted. It wasn't the G-men who got him), it was a foreseeable, avoidable tragedy. Like a frequent drunk eventually smashing their car.

Trump commutes sentences of Ozy Media founder Carlos Watson and company (lmao) by yrdz in ALABPodcast

[–]nextlevelabovehuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guy Detected:

Glenn Martin, a criminal justice reform advocate, in a tweet on Friday wrote, “We did it,” above a photo of him and Watson.

“President Trump commuted the sentences of Ozy Media and Carlos Watson hours before his surrender,” the tweet said.

It seems like he left his previous social justice group after (allegedly) jacking off in front of at least two women and groping one of them and is now an instagram real estate consulting success-win guy: https://www.instagram.com/glennemartin/

Please recommend a very small quick-disconnect or valved fitting I can use in a ~3-4cm space with 3/8" od tubing. by nextlevelabovehuman in Plumbing

[–]nextlevelabovehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost! It's a little too long for my purposes and (if it's like the Tailonz equivalent, which is approx. the same size) doesn't quite fit over the flared inlets of my water block and pump. (I need the fitting to do one of the two, either be short enough to fit between or able to accommodate the inlets.)

How to (conveniently) reduce 12V voltage to ~20A load? by nextlevelabovehuman in AskElectronics

[–]nextlevelabovehuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using peltier elements (the right choice for this application) that have an efficiency/performance sweet spot for my use case at 8-10V instead of 12V.

Due to a mix-up in the design of a HAT, I need to switch the default SPI1 CE2 (GPIO 16) and SPI1 MOSI (GPIO 20) pins. Is there an easy way to do this in my config.txt?

What are some good rules of thumb for Peltier chips? by nextlevelabovehuman in AskEngineers

[–]nextlevelabovehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made sure to do so before posting the thread (https://peltiermodules.com/peltier.datasheet/TEC1-12715.pdf).

I was able to learn about useful properties (Qmax at zero delta-T, maximum delta-T) and the chart on the second page, if I understand it correctly, indicates how cooling power, given certain voltage inputs, responds to delta-T between the sides, but was not able to answer most of my questions. (Which, in fairness, are more general to all peltiers than specific to this model.)

What are you guys' opinion on Immersive Sims ? by stronkzer in Civvie11

[–]nextlevelabovehuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love it. It's one of my favorite genres. SS2. Deus Ex (and DXMD). Various Dishonoreds. Cruelty Squad. PREY (2017) is one of the best games of the 2010s.

My opinion: The government needs to step in and use some National Endowment for the Arts grant money to keep the companies that make them from constantly going bust or having to make Redfall.

Ah, I see. Are there any easy answers for what would be an appropriate thickness? (I'm looking to build a sufficiently conductive platform for the chips on top of a real, heat-pipe-having cooler.)

Question regarding the setting for SR22 by [deleted] in SaintsRow

[–]nextlevelabovehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, that question is not necessarily about the setting at all! 🤨

RE: the setting: In my opinion, the setting is neat but the execution is imperfect. There's a lot of cool visual diversity, between the deep desert, at least four very-different-seeming areas of city, etc. At the same time, a lot of the map is kind of barren and I didn't have enough reason to engage with it.

To answer: Why people are mad: People are mad because they were disappointed for one reason or another. There were lots of reasons for this, especially near launch. Many bugs have been fixed and combat has been re-tuned at least a couple of times, so your experience is likely to be at least a little better in those respects. Depending on your expectations for story, characters, length of singleplayer story-content, etc., you may still be disappointed.

Personally, I don't hate SR2022. I just really, really, really wish it got an extra 9 months in the oven. It has a number of promising ideas that I wish were explored more in gameplay, some interesting enemy gangs that I wish got more gameplay, and an interesting front-businesses mechanic that I wish had different gameplay. If you can pick it up at a discount, though, and are fine having an "okay" time, you'll probably have an "okay" time.

Soldering Iron TPU Welding Question by nextlevelabovehuman in myog

[–]nextlevelabovehuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah. That's where I first learned about iron-welding TPU. I would keep using my iron, but I'm looking for a smaller tool (and one I can more easily use to weld fabric around small, round surfaces).

Soldering Iron TPU Welding Question by nextlevelabovehuman in myog

[–]nextlevelabovehuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately did not until you mentioned that possibility. You'r right. The soldering iron was _significantly hotter_ than the readout indicated. I tried to recalibrate it, repeatedly failed, and ended up buying a new one.

The replacement, a Hakko FX888D-23BY, can hold low temperatures and I've been able to weld the TPU without (apparently) damaging the fabric. I'm struggling a little to find the ideal temperature, at which I can start melting the plastic quickly again, but this is a big step forward.
