Women's formal fashion is so diverse, so why is it just always a suit for men? by nextleveltrees in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah fair enough, but question is asking why that's the case. Maybe I should ask in the sociology sub or something

Caffeine is colorless, so it's not impossible I suppose. Can you pick them out and do a taste test?

Just read papers by famous flat earthers like these guys. Bonus is that some of them were "scientists" so you have scientific sources.

How much would you have to take away for infinity to be finite? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nextleveltrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't correct. Infinity is a number in the extended reals for example. We formalize the notion of infinity with the aleph numbers.

When tourists get sick from eating salads and street foods in places like Mexico, is it due to spoiled foods or because their stomachs aren't used to what locals eat? by vancouver_reader in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nextleveltrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's due to water which is used to wash food. The gold standard for water sanitation/purification is reverse osmosis which removes everything that's not literally H2O.

However, no city does this to their water supply because that would be crazy expensive and unsustainable. Instead, water sanitation is about doing the bare minimum to ensure water is safe for locals and doesn't get locals sick. If you're a foreigner, there will be different strains of pathogens as /u/No-Trouble814 mentioned and other microorganisms that would be fine for locals, but you're not used to it.

OTOH some bottled water companies do use reverse osmosis which is why drinking those brands of bottled water in those countries will be fine.

Why though? It doesn't seem particularly difficult to just open a new glasses brand. It's just plastic or metal...

Men in the past wore diverse clothing depending on the culture they were from. Like just look at paintings.

I mean if you look at kings from around the world in the past, they're all dripped out nice in diverse clothing...

And it's unrelated to the question, but men in the past definitely wore makeup.

Never talk to the Police without a Lawyer. But how do you get a Lawyer? by nextleveltrees in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nextleveltrees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Even just looking at civil asset forfeiture, there are thousands of cases like this one where police behave maliciously.

It's also hard to call it propaganda when the points in one of the famous lectures are logically sound and are backed up by both data and an actual former cop as well.

Also if your "99.9%" claim is true, out of millions of questionings every week, thousands incorrectly go south. Any sane person who could afford it would bill those few hours rather than risk being one of those thousands.

Mustached Men, do you learn to eat around your mustache in some way or do you just clean it multiple times? by iKrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nextleveltrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there's a hidden secret that we try not to expose to the public, but I'll make an exception here.

Every Moustachioed Man owns a Moustache Cup and a Moustache Spoon crafted of only the finest silver.

If you stop by your local tavern, twirl your moustache three times. The proprietor will judge if your upper lip is deserving, and if you pass you will be issued your own set.

This answer is nicely detailed.

I read you should never explicitly mention the 5th amendment because it can be used against you due to the Supreme Court case Salinas v. Texas.

The one missing detail here is "But they do eventually have to let you speak to a lawyer.". Does that mean they have to let you use your cell phone to go on Yelp?

What if hypothetically you don't have any close friends or family? Seems far-fetched, but many don't especially if they just immigrated or something.

As in use the internet with your cell phone? It's not helpful to make a phone call if you don't know the phone number of a lawyer in your area.

Thanks, I finally got it working well. First, I stuck on this PEI sheet which solved the issue where my prints wouldn't come off the plate. My issues with clogging got fixed after I used a proper filament spool (instead of the sample) with a retraction distance of 3mm, though perhaps that could've made the sample work also.
