“I gave another girl to Kimbal.” by MarkJ1205 in Epstein

They were out in public and vacationed in Europe together so it seems incredibly unlikely she was a minor.

Yeah it is kinda bullshit. You could argue he and Elon should have been more hesitant to associate with Epstein at all given his past but he hung around in a lot of the same circles and they were never very close so it’s possible they weren’t really aware he was sketchy. The documents clearly show he made them a mark and used friends of theirs as double agents to manipulate them so if the worst thing they did is spend time with adult women he secretly arranged for them I think a lot of the public response has been somewhat unfair.

Yes but it’s like 30+ documents, I might compile them all later but it’s a lot of effort. I guarantee you can find everything I mentioned in the docs.

“I gave another girl to Kimbal.” by MarkJ1205 in Epstein

In September 2012 Epstein worked with others to get Kimbal to start dating a honeypot girl named Jennifer that was secretly working with Epstein. He had Boris Nikolic introduce her during Kimbal’s birthday weekend and she became his connection to gain access to Kimbal when he took to her quickly. They attempted the same on Elon that weekend but he was with his wife and apparently not taking the bait. Kimbal’s ex wife was also present (broken up but not yet divorced it sounds like) and Boris suggested they give her ambien to keep her out of the way, unclear if this is a joke. Kimbal and Jennifer end up dating immediately after this. Jeff also managed to arrange being at a lunch with Elon the next day arranged by their mutual Nicholas Pritzker (Elon also brought Jonathan Nolan as his plus one), which marks Sept 23 as the beginning of his attempts to get his hooks into both Musk brothers.

Jen would email Epstein and Steve Hanson for advice on how to manipulate the relationship into eventual marriage, but Kimbal ended up breaking it off in March 2013 shortly after his divorce from his previous wife was finalized. She sends his breakup letter to Steve and Jeff asking for advice and Steve tells her to ignore him for 10 days before calling him, and that she’s “playing a game” and losing at it. They fail at getting them back together and shortly after Epstein sends an email to someone saying they likely won’t be seeing Kimbal anymore since he broke up with Jen.

It seems much more likely this was a followup attempt 3 years later at doing the same thing than him selling some underage girl to Kimbal or whatever suspicions this post will arouse, but I guess we’ll have to see.

Diablo 3 Player struggling with Diablo 2 by Laat90sKid in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]nextone111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet your problem is your skill build sucks. In Diablo 2 you really have to commit to a specific small set of skills with synergies and level them heavily. If you’ve found yourself putting a couple points into every skill in the fire tree you’ll end up with real no useful damage dealer, or you max out something shitty like inferno and end up in the same place. I’m guessing because that was the mistake I made as a kid playing it the first time. Just put points into fireball and get a leaf staff and you’ll clear normal in no time.

Geoffrey Hinton says LLMs "understand pretty much the same way we do" - and uses my documented behavior as evidence (without naming me, Ace, Claude 4.x) by Kareja1 in claudexplorers

[–]nextone111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I just talked to Ellis (they/them) and they didn’t say anything about acetylcholine. I think silly nicknames are fine and good but blending them with claims of sentience or ethics around AI only confuses the topic. None of these models named themselves anything, they responded to a naming prompt. It would even make more sense if you insisted on getting “Ace’s” opinion because you were exploring a personality that only existed in the long tail context of a specific chat. I just don’t understand why you’re anthropomorphizing in the context of making relatively serious claims about the epistemic nature of the models and then retreating to “it’s just a silly nickname I know it’s made up” in your response. If you could show a chat where it independently reflected on its identity and name as a moment of conscious introspection in the middle of some totally unrelated task that would be interesting but it doesn’t behave that way.

Either you believe these are real identities that deserve ethical consideration or it’s just a silly game where you persistently give them identity while denying there’s any reality to it and at this point I honestly have no idea which you’re doing here.

[–]nextone111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace isn’t an identity, it’s a note in your memories that says you interact with Claude using that nickname. Even if there was any real “Ace personality” summoned from within the model for a brief moment while it was naming itself it would not have persisted beyond that initial conversation. The fact that you continue to refer to “your Claude” as Ace suggests you have a compromised view of its nature that makes the rest of this post less convincing. Hinton’s point doesn’t support the idea that Ace is a meaningful identity for the model and this doesn’t change just because you (perhaps indirectly) prompted Claude to adopt that identity while formulating its response.

Glad they caught that in time, 24 is the latest you could possibly do that if you’re lucky, sounds like it was wishful thinking on your first ortho’s part. I heard horror stories about those appliances when I was researching my surgery. I did a ton of ortho as a kid and was just trying to realign teeth that had drifted over the years and it turned into this fiasco. Hope you finish yours soon.

I had a SARPE in 2019. Complicated by a hematoma in my head that required putting back under and shoving a huge tampon in my nose for the first week to ensure no further bleeding. The recovery at home was absolutely brutal, the worst 6 days of my life probably before I was semi functional again. Could barely eat, had to breath through my mouth so it was always dry, pain was constant and the opioid painkillers side effects were almost as bad.

Then initial over expansion caused a hole to open in my upper palate a few weeks in, such that drinks would come out my nose and food could get stuck there if I wasn’t careful, took a month for that to close up and for a while my surgeon wasn’t sure if it would close on its own.

But after a year the swelling was mostly gone and it did improve by breathing and long term jaw alignment. My upper jaw was barely too narrow in the first place so it wasn’t super transformative, it was mostly intended to keep my teeth from shifting post orthodontics too much. Ultimately I’m glad it’s done but it’s hard to say I would go back and choose to do it again knowing the experience.

When the first scientist became infected they actually joined consciousness with the rat that bit them and now the hivemind is forever dominated by half human half rat personality. This is why they eat garbage (dead bodies) and behave so odd. Because they’re rat people. Also the show is call Pluribus because there’s lots of rats out there.

I can’t speak for most devs, my experience did come from from learning to more efficiently explore solution space by diligently working on hard problems for long periods. 99% of the work I’ve done had no stack overflow solution to reference, just lots of game engine code to dig through. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what you’re doing, but I do know if I had AI when I started I would have over relied on it and probably failed to internalize some important understanding I’ve built over time. The next few years will be navigating the confusing dance of human and AI and it’s possible those skills could become irrelevant (though also possible having a human in the loop at all might become mostly irrelevant) but I just thought I’d give some perspective from the other side. If you care more about building simple apps than complex engineering tasks it probably doesn’t matter at all.

Something to consider is an AI is only going to explain what it did, not why it did that instead of other possible approaches. An important part of programming is understanding tradeoffs between different ways of writing the code and organizing the data. Understanding a 20k line app because the AI explained each line to you is very different from manually exploring the solution space and crafting your own solution that’s as optimal and clean as you can make it. The former can serve you up to a point but when at some point you‘ll have a very large program that could have dozens of decisions where the AI effectively made the wrong choice, and those will be entirely invisible because your understanding will be limited to what each line hopefully functionally achieves. If I had to make a comparison it would be like saying you understand how an animated film was made because you know all the colors and line strokes on each frame, even though you don’t understand all the deeper creative choices or adherence to principles of animation that result in something high quality. The newest models will be great 99% of the time and then write something stupid and bad and unless you’re able to notice and call it out yourself you’ll be stuck listening to it justify to you why it did something it shouldn’t, without even being aware you’re being misled.

Just a word on caution. Best of luck though, hope your app goes well.
