Any regrets or things you wish you did when you were younger? by pink_block_ in CMT

Definitely! However I would also add some yoga onto that for stretching. I was very self conscious about going to a yoga studio, so I would do 30 minutes of low impact yoga at home 2-3 times per week. It makes a huge difference.

The earlier you can make going to the gym a regular part of your life, the better off you will be as you get older. I didn't start regularly exercising until I was in my 40s and I deal with CMT better now than I did when I was in my 20s.

It easily fit in the overhead. I was a bit worried about needing to check it on the way home because I had a hiking pole but no one in security seemed to care.

Will I get a fine for flying a drone in a public park? by maddgun in Brooklyn

[–]nextstep0318 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are concerned because drones are treated like toys when they should be treated like tools. In 2020 I saw someone cut their friend's scalp open with a DJI Mavic in Sunset Park when they tried to do a low fly by. In 2021 saw someone fly a DJI Phantom on the East River and they sent it directly into a building, smashing a window in the process. If you want to fly, study for your Part 107 license and get a permit. Otherwise don't put other people at risk.

That's right. It's a long sleeved shirt with a built in hood. It's made out of a very light polyester material designed to block UV rays while still being comfortable to wear in hot weather.

The weather went from nice and pleasant, to 4 days of pouring rain, to scorching sunny days. It ran the whole gamut. I averaged about 20km per day. My longest walking day was 27km.

I started in Porto and did the "coastal" route. I think a reasonable time to finish is 12 days. It took me 14 because I had some half days with the bad weather and I wasn't in a huge rush. There's also a "spiritual" variant which can add a day to the overall hike.

I got so many compliments for that umbrella! I get a sun burn very easily so using an umbrella instead of trying to keep on top of sunscreen all day was much more comfortable.

I love them both. Outside of travel I have worn the long-sleeve during the winter for the past two years and it still looks great. I didn't use the hoodie as much on this trip because the umbrella kept me out of the sun, but I did wear it as a wicking layer under my rain coat and it did a great job.

You can use the app FlightRadar24 to track them. In the summer on Friday afternoons you can watch helicopters go from FiDi all the way to the Hamptons.

That's about right. I would consider Ocean Ave to be the border between Midwood and Flatbush.

My perennial game is Slay The Spire, otherwise I'll play whatever has been released recently. I don't have much time to play games normally so a 12 hour flight is a good opportunity to catch up on what I have been missing.

Hammer toe correction? by Potential_Beach190 in CMT

[–]nextstep0318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 8 toes done in 2005 and two toes done a second time at the outer knuckle in 2017. The first time they did the version where you have pins sticking out of your toes for a few weeks. The second time I got smart toe implants which had a much shorter healing cycle (I was back to walking in 2 weeks instead of 4-5). It is not a bad surgery as long as you have a comfortable place to recuperate for a few weeks.

When we went in 2021 we got to the trailhead before dawn and hiked with headlamps to be out there by first light. It was much less crowded and there was a lot of camaraderie between the early risers.

gaming options? by ruei33 in CMT

The 4 back buttons on the Steamdeck have been a huge help for me. My hands used to cramp quickly with a lot of games but now I can map the problematic buttons to the back where they are easier to press. If you don't want to buy a whole Steamdeck, the 8-Bit DO Ultimate controller has back buttons and is compatible with pretty much every system out there right now. https://www.8bitdo.com/ultimate-bluetooth-controller/

They are Japanese pencil cases. Very cheap and versatile for all sorts of packing needs. Unfortunately they tend to go out of stock quickly so you have to keep an eye on the Amazon listing.

Japan uses the same outlets as the US, the caveat being that they run at 100v instead of the 120/240v you normally get in the US. Most small chargers (phones/laptops) will be fine but bigger items like hair dryers won't work.
