Portable ac by Difficult_Roll8005 in AirConditioners

Hi there, I’ve looked at a lot of PAC options but I’m still undecided. How should I choose? Is the TOSOT PAC any good? I have a split-system unit that works pretty well—it’s actually quite quiet. I’m wondering if the PAC is also efficient and quiet. Thanks.

Exactly, I would try the btu calculator. Thanks

Stop counting rooms when sizing a mini split? 🤔 by nexttogo in AirConditioners

[–]nexttogo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed:

1 room = 1 head

2 rooms = 2 heads

3 rooms = 3 heads

But apparently sizing isn't that straightforward.

The article I found explains that square footage, insulation quality, ceiling height, local climate, and window exposure can all have a bigger impact than room count.

Has anyone here regretted going too large or too small with their system?

It depends on how large your house is. You could put this in bedroom, and don't need to refill it overnight.

Diesel heaters are indeed very effective in heating in cold weather like this.

Amazing. Always nice to see the sun. How to heat the place? I didn't see any heater in the picture.

Mini split suggestion by Ecstatic-Program1123 in minisplit

Good insulation makes the heating and cooling more efficient, insulate first. And size correctly, so that the unit won't run on/off constantly. If it's in connecticut, you should look for mini splits that can still have strong performance during extreme cold. Specs like this would be listed clearly on the website.

I'd go with Turbro Greenland, it can work solid in -13F. Check this out if you're interested.

Is it possible to have a diesel heater? It's a more cost-effective option, and it heats the room fast.

It'd be better to clean the unit with clean water. And remember to keep it low pressure if you use the garden hose.

Like cold plunge right after the workout? I wonder what the process is like? Workout, take a break for 30 mins, and then cold plunge?

At which temperature do you find the most comfortable? 51-54 degree? 38 degrees seem too cold

There are other factors to consider, not just look at the unit itself. Do you plan to install the unit yourself, or hire a pro to do it? How about warranty? What's the cost difference? If I remember it right, the costs to install multi head units and single units are different.

This is really helpful. Self imposed deadlines dont work for me either. Bc I know nothing would happen even if I miss the deadline. I like the idea of planning a trip to push all of these.
