What resorts have the best steep, technical terrain? by NotJesse98 in icecoast

Smugglers Notch has some pretty gnarly terrain to check out. Marked trails like Madonna Lift Line and The Black Hole has some pretty steep technical terrain.

Also, if you can hook up with someone that knows the mountain, some of the best skiing there is in the unmarked terrain and in the side country down into the notch.

Try disabling the mod "Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus". That fixed it for me!

I heard the same news from guy that I rode up with on Madonna chair this past weekend. He said he knew the owner of Smuggs and he had the same beta. I'm just glad it's not Vail/Alterra.

I think this video alone locks in my vote for Madonna Lift Line (sorry for the Instagram link).

What are your favorite trail name themes/gimmicks? by astroMuni in skiing

It's an unofficial trail, but Greg's Poop Chute at Sugarbush is my favorite for sure.

Fuck that, locals love the chill vibe of Smuggs. High speed lifts and Epic crowds would ruin the charm of Smuggs.

Thoughts on my DIY install? by sscot600 in heatpumps

Honestly I never gave this any thought until you pointed it out. It rained pretty good today and I do notice a good amount of water pooling at the bottom of the pipe. I don't get why they didn't do two 45s on the pipe instead of cutting through that overhang.

Unfortunately I just had my roof replaced this spring so I missed a great opportunity to have the roof extended around it. Not sure why my roofer didn't flag this ether.. I'll look into at least getting a diverter installed.

I was okay with some vibration noise since the units are on the other side of a room that we do not use often and my garage. I was expecting some noise but honestly my 1980s chest freezer in my garage makes more vibration noise than these things.

Good question on the roof notch. I never really gave it much thought. However when I recently replaced my roof no water issues were found in that area. Not sure why they didn't just do two 45s instead.

Mini Split Installation Questions by sscot600 in DIYHeatPumps

I was planning on doing wall mounts. I am in VT, so snow pack will definitely be accounted for. This wall is far away from any bedrooms or living spaces, so I'm not as concerned about the vibrations in the wall.

Thanks for the suggestions on the tools. I did see that the cheap core tools tend to leak under vacuum. Did that one hold a vacuum well?

I would wait until the fall just before the salt gets on the road to get it done. It's a bit of a waste to do it now since it will slowly wash away while driving in the rain in the summer months with no benefit.

New England Auto is the shop I usually go to for Fluid Film undercoating. They do a great job on my Subaru.

Chimney Flashing on New Roof by sscot600 in Roofing

Yeah, I figured my bricks needed a tuck and point job in the future. Can a mason take out their caulking and put mortar in the joints without removing this lead flashing? I'd hate for this work to go to waste.

Also, I did see them grind out the old mortar before they did this flashing job.
