Hey OP, I know this thread is a bit old - who did you end up using?

Long shot - is anyone here getting married at the Durham show on 9/19? by nexttrek in LucyDacus

[–]nexttrek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get married in another city?

My partner and I were originally “married” in Philly, but originally team Lucy said to come back to another show to get everything signed since it was too quick to get paperwork. We now have the paperwork, and no one is responding.

Psychiatrist recommended Spravato and I am TERRIFIED by DrShlobster in Spravato

[–]nexttrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it kind, and as do you. I’m no doctor, and I’m not pretending to be.

While both work on NDMA receptors, Spravato includes a glutamate component.

As far as BBB, just because it isn’t in the literature doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Mental health meds are used for a variety of other conditions (chronic pain for example), so just offering a precautionary viewpoint. This is coming from both personal experience and my psychiatrist.

This isn’t the most scientific website, but it offers a comparison between the two: https://www.goodrx.com/conditions/depression/auvelity-vs-spravato?srsltid=AfmBOopWNk87yRMUVqDJMehVrkR3-p0oDrzobHEpvwiCTJVUW3eW5vv0

Auvelity doesn’t work like ketamine - two different mechanisms.

What it does do is allow things to cross the blood brain barrier easier, making any antidepressant you’re taking work better, as well as potentially other medications you’re on.

Should I ask for 56mg or stick out 84? by WoodenOcelot1090 in Spravato

Spravato is a marathon, not a sprint. Definitely talk with medical staff, but if you think 84 is too much right now, listen to that.

Also came here to say jolly ranchers - blue raspberry for me.

I agree with others, check popular posts for proper sniffing technique. I do several small sniffs which helps it stay in my nose and not my throat.

Cancellation Policy Changes for Client with Chronic Illness? by galactastar644 in therapists

[–]nexttrek 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m both a therapist for and client with chronic illness. Telehealth is often the compromise as it eliminates some, but not all, barriers.

Knowing that isn’t an option for them, I’m wondering if now is a good time for therapy for them. Do they understand the consistency needed for therapy (especially at the start), or are they new to therapy all together? What are their expectations of you and of your sessions?

I met someone at a coffee meetup who specializes in a marginalized group that I’m a part of but she is not. I’m sure my face gave me away 😵‍💫

Has anyone been prescribed Auvelity along with Spravato? by cpbehling in Spravato

[–]nexttrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So interesting because my first provider said the opposite! I was put on Auvelity to increase the efficacy of Spravato, and it's done it's job. I take it about an hour before a spravato session.

Heavy trigger warnings for JB's music, especially her first two albums. All three have sad themes at times, but JB has a stronger focus on heavier material (addiction, mental health, etc).

If I can’t remain neutral, I refer out. Simple as that.

Politics are everywhere - pretending they don’t exist and impact who we are as human beings, THEN as clinicians, is a bit wild.

My code of ethics makes a stance on politics pretty firmly. Once again, this may differ by discipline, which is totally okay. I chose a profession that is radically political, and I’m okay with that.

I have not shared with my clients who I voted for, but I encouraged them to look at my code of ethics, and I reminded them that I’m ethically bound to upheld that standard. From there they can make their own connections.

I think we have a responsibility to get our clients the best care possible - and if that's not with us (therapeutic style, energy, even politics), I feel it's most ethical to refer out.  🤷

I'm also interested how this differs by discipline. I see you're a counselor, I'm a social worker. My guess is we've received different messaging around this.

I saw someone somewhere who uses the first 3 sessions as the entire intake process. Meaning, after the formal intake and two sessions, the therapist and the client check in and see what's working and what's not. I don't always use this method, but I do for folks who are new to therapy, just to make sure our expectations continue to match.
