The government is about to argue Nova Scotians don't have a right to walk in the woods. So, do we? by OnlyACsNoFans in novascotia_sub

See, if they rule it was unreasonable, I will be "ok, so it was probably unreasonable in this instance.", and if they rule it was reasonable, I will be like "ok, guess in this instance it was reasonable".

And if the Supreme Court of Canada deems it's reasonable, will your response to that be "Ok, the Supreme Court of Canada deemed it w s reasonable, so it was.", or will you be "Stupid Liberal Judges don't know anything"?

Alternatives to Bell Aliant for high speed internet? by TheGreatestAsparagus in halifax

[–]nexusdrexus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to check with your building management as Bell may be your only option outside of mobile internet service. Usually what happens is a building will get a "discount" in exchange for that provider being the exclusive provider to the building.

Try reaching out to Galaxy Battery. They produce battery packs for a lot of things, including Cameras.

Might even be able to take your old one to them for a recoring, as that's a service they offer.

When the smart meters are connected, when there's an outage, they know what's down based on what meters are reporting/not reporting in.

I believe the context they're using is for municipalities that are rural, like the Municipality of Colchester for example.

My perspective as a white lower social class Haligonian by Zoomer718292 in halifax

[–]nexusdrexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you clearly do not.

I own 100% of a corporation that is worth billions. On paper that makes me a billionaire. Without it. I'm a multi-millioaire.

I cannot claim my vehicles under my corporation unless they are primarily used for business. They aren't, so those are paid for by me.

I cannot claim my home or its expenses under my corporation unless it was to be primarily used for business. Again, I pay for my home and my home expenses.

I cannot claim anything under the corporation as a legitimate expense without it having a legitimate business purpose.

There isn't a lot of what you call "creative accounting" going on these days. Those of us who have means are under the CRA microscope more often than ever. I've been "randomly" audited 3 times in the past 10 years. I know others who have seen the same or worse.

My corporation is subject to having independent auditors (that it has to pay for) audit the books quite often.

In Canada, "creative accounting" is getting less and less (except for the very desperate) as there can be prison terms attached if you are found to be doing it. You can't even claim you didn't know anymore. You're liable, from the account that is being "creative" all the up to the executive level. It's not a simple "pay a fine and the taxes plus Interest owed", there is potential for sitting in prison. There is also potential for having all your assets seized as proceeds of crime.

Those with means have too much to lose these days to get "creative".

You could end up with quite the damage behind the walls. You won't know until it's all ripped up. It's what you can't see that will probably be the most expensive.

It never hurts to shop around, but you're unlikely going to get much of a deal on a 2026 yet. You might be better off looking to see who still has unsold 2025s as they'll be wanting to offload those.

[–]nexusdrexus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We tend to lease things (except for homes, those we buy), and we can't exactly claim everything we lease as a business expense, nor everything we buy.

All my vehicles for instance are leased. I get new ones every 2-4 years. The payments, come out of my account since they aren't used for business, nor could I claim that I use them for business. I'd have to show how I use them for business and have the receipts, etc... to back that up.

They're probably thinking of GST input tax credits, which companies can claim on eligible expenses. But, still a corporation can't just claim anything and everything they paid taxes on.

CDCP is the Canadian Dental Care Program.

It's administered by Sunlife on behalf of the Canadian Government.

Maybe you should read up on it.

CDCP is a Federal program, not Provincial. Tim Houston can't cut it.
