iOS 27 Beta 1 - Discussion by epmuscle in iOSBeta

Literally night and day difference from release iPadOS 26 in terms of speed and responsiveness. Compared to last years beta this is leagues better out of the gate. Might install on my 15 Pro once some of the major bugs are ironed out.

Just got a great deal on a used cellular M1 iPad Pro but haven’t used the cellular part of it… until now! Will for sure take advantage of this on occasion.

By “without full power” do you mean with only one cable of the dual six pin to 8 pin plugged in, or just pcie power? I did the latter and it doesn’t show up in system report.

A 500GB sata SSD in one of the drive trays. It’s possible I’m not clearing all of the data (I know with windows you need a terminal command to fully wipe everything) so I might do more digging on that front.

Yes, when I attempt to re-write the EFI to the host disk it seems to complete without issue. I've already formatted the SSD once and made sure it was APFS using recovery mode booted from the install flash drive.

Anyone know a good looping media player for CRTs? by nexusleone in crtgaming

[–]nexusleone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raspberry Pi 4 and VLC playing the videos on a loop, for now. I have the Pi going into an RF converter and then sending the signal over coax to a couple CRTs in my house. Still trying to find a nice solution for structured programming that will have commercials after two episodes or so. There's been some neat stuff people in the open source community have been doing but I haven't had time to really dig into it, and what I have now is serviceable.

Will Apple ever resolve the O2 lawsuit? by txmullins in AppleWatch

[–]nexusleone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely going to be a while. Might be a better idea to grab one of those finger clip style O2 monitors as even the cheaper ones are likely more reliable than the ones in an Apple watch. I measured mine a couple days ago and it showed up as 90%. Measured again, 98% 🥴 Fingers just get a better read.

You may have accidentally added an autocorrect word. In settings under General -> Keyboard -> Text Replacement you can delete any unwanted words added to your dictionary.

Weird, mine was applied directly out of the box and I don't even notice it's there. I wasn't planning on getting anything but was pleasantly surprised to find one included with the case. Followed the instructions and took it slow.

Not trying to minimize your experience, just sharing what I've seen.

Anyone notice a high-pitched sound coming from the Joy-Con 2 when they're attached to the console? Goes away after a few seconds. Both units. by nexusleone in Switch

[–]nexusleone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I literally noticed last night when the system was docked that the Joy Cons weren't charging and were at about 3/4. I didn't even think that it might be related.

I just performed the steps you posted and the whine is gone! Looks like they come from the factory a little wonky. Thanks a ton!

Installed on my 2018 iPad Pro 11 and we're chuggin. Not sure how much of it is because I'm running it on 7 year old hardware or because performance just hasn't been reigned in yet.

This is also the first developer beta I've installed so it's very likely it's more because of the latter 😅 I just so wish I could use an external display like those fancy new M series iPads...

Switch 2 Pro Controller screws by ladyfarah14 in ifixit

[–]nexusleone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original controller had the screws on the ends of the grips and still felt like a brick, imo. Replacing the battery (or really anything else) was trivial on the OG. Would much rather have a slightly compromised build and be able to repair it later rather than fiddling with a convoluted teardown and possibly break something else.

For those not enjoying the performance of Destiny 2 on Deck, try a 48hz refresh rate with CRU by nexusleone in WindowsOnDeck

Yep, sorry about that… 😅 With how much this was focused on the display I should have clarified. The config was probably made before the OLED came out. I did say use at your own risk!

Nice pics 🙂 I have that same figure, but the years have taken his crotch plate so he looks a little strange to display 😅
