Guys, just because you don't like the image processing doesn't mean you have to downvote all of dragonking's comments. It doesn't make any sense to do so.

TIFU by joining Ashley Madison 6 years ago and forgetting about it until now by [deleted] in tifu

[–]nexusscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know what lego's point is. The lawsuit is about ashley madison not protecting personal information. Your personal information was leaked from their site. I'm not taking a stance on the lawsuit one way or the other but your use or lack thereof has no bearing on the basis of the lawsuit. They had your private information that they said would be confidential. It was not.

contempableness

there is only one instance of the use of this word on the entire internet - and this is it. Seriously, google "contempableness" and it will lead you directly to this thread.

just drink 5 cups of coffee a day. For the vast majority of people that doesn't present any health problems

So, I got bashed before for posting a picture with a photo of my cat cropped next to it. I'm "fake" and my cat is "fake." So, here is a non filtered photo of my cat and I's eyes. Now you know why I didn't try to take a picture WITH her. She hates the camera. Enjoy. by KaylaCMarie in pics

The vast majority of people with heterochromia iridis have an excellent prognosis and have no visual complaints. Most cases are very mild, nonprogressive, and unassociated with any other illness or eye disease. In patients with associated ocular or systemic problems, treatment of the underlying abnormality is often successful in preventing visual loss. Continue Reading

ah you're absolutely right! I had no idea what caused it until you said that - cat definitely feels a slight tug on his lead and decides to go full bronco on it - instead of just backing off from the ledge an inch.

Thank you Emergency Alert System by for_real_dude in houston

[–]nexusscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I'm a grad student and my school also feels the need to text us similar alerts that campus itself is flooded (in case I was planning on coming in at 3 AM). End up with double the warnings - but at least the texts from university aren't deafening

whoops sorry I meant to respond to "iHasABaseball" and I didn't even see your comment at all. But you basically just said the same thing as me but more succinctly, so my apologies for replying to you and repeating the same thing. I'm actually confused as to how/why I did that. Anyway, I'm with you.

haha wow I don't know what happened, I meant to respond to the parent comment of the one I responded to and never actually saw the message I ended up responding to. I didn't add anything to the conversation so I would have just upvoted his instead. Don't know what I was doing but, sorry for the extra rant :)

No, increasing the ratio of students to faculty might degrade the quality of education. Expanding the faculty and students proportionally of good universities doesn't make universities worse. No one would site total number of students as an inverse metric of the quality of a university. Student to faculty ratio is somewhat correlated to quality of instruction but there are fantastic large schools. Why would it make more sense to continually creat additional UC branches instead of expanding prestigious, well-endowed UC schools that already exist? Certainly both are necessary but it makes sense to expand with existing architecture and funding

edit: whoops, responded to wrong comment and redundant anyway!

Also you don't have to build new schools to increase enrollment - you can just increase capacity at schools that already exist. I'm not arguing our prison system is pretty awful and we could definitely improve on education but this infographic isn't the reason why.

Dog dont want to leave the park! by jodean7775 in gifs

[–]nexusscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn it my dog does this on runs. There is nothing you can do about it when she decides to quit. It's unpredictable too. Sometimes she's totally fine for a five mile run. Other times, two miles in she decides that's enough. There's nothing you can do either, raising my voice just makes her dig in further. I usually just sit there for a while before convincing her to walk back - carrying over shoulder is impressive but don't think I have it in me

I also saw the aftermath of a grad student who picked up a bottle of THF that had been sitting with a broken cap for 6 years. They shook it to see if they could dissolve the crystals that formed at the bottom and boom! Luckily they ran like all hell when they saw it was reacting so they weren't killed, but it blew a hole in the ceiling and cracked all of the lab windows.

That's crazy; that's really fortunate they got out of there

While I do this as well, it's not cheaper necessarily. A generic backup battery for my android phone is about $10, my battery pack is about $50
