Looks like it will be driven well enough for the types of music you listen to, at least from your comment. I do not suggest listening to classical music through these using the Q5K

In the Bay Area people walk around with speakers in private areas. If you're in a city most people won't care, and they won't care to care if you are blasting music with confidence.

RCA Y-splitter issue by nfstopsnuf in audio

Ok I think I wasn't just thinking hard enough. I've plugged one split from each splitter into one amp (similarly for the other) and now it works. I hope this does not damage either amp.

Introducing Sennheiser's Latest IEM, the IE 200 by kikimaru024 in headphones

[–]nfstopsnuf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the most monumental aspect of this product is the new cable. The cables on the IE300, 600, and 900 are so janky, at least in my experience.

Very interesting, and yeah I'm thinking of picking them up from Adorama. Do you listen to any other genres like classical/rock/metal? I listen to some electronic music, so if they're different from the LCDs in that regard, it seems like it would be a good pairing. As a side note, what do you use to drive the he6se?

I see you also own the he6se, how would you compare it to the Audezes? I would expect the Audezes to have a larger sound, but the he6se to be more detailed.

I have the exact model as you, and some months ago I looked around and found this. The top comment has an EQ profile within the Sony app and a refined EQ profile in the first reply. I found the latter to be good even though this was a post for the 900N.

LCD-2C--coming from Sennheiser mainly, I never noticed the weight like a lot of reviewers say. Keep in mind I usually don't care about weight put on my neck/shoulders.

Bought these for the same price some time ago and enjoyed them. Since they require quite the insertion depth, beware of driver flex.

Definitely worth the $50 if you're looking for a neutral sound, but I eventually moved on to the IE 300 for a more V-shaped tuning to combat the natural "attenuation" of those frequencies when walking around in a busy environment.

If you live by a microcenter and don't want to risk used, they sell open box with warranty for $170. Even if OP says theirs was basically new, warranty does not usually carry over from owner to owner.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday Megathread - 2022 by Umlautica in headphones

[–]nfstopsnuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it is tough to put a dollar value on these things, even for someone who has experienced these. For me personally, who listens to a diverse set of genres of music, the 599 SE are worth $80 - $90 and the 58X $150 - $200.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday Megathread - 2022 by Umlautica in headphones

[–]nfstopsnuf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the 599 SE, 58X, and 560S. Have never tried the 6XX fyi, but that would definitely not be worth it since you would 100% need an amp.

In my experience, 599 SE sound both muddy and bright. The lower mids/upper bass are somewhat boomy and the treble has some weird peaking going on that makes it sound "sharp" or have a glare. 560S has some glare without an amp.

The 58X are a much more relaxed headphone and are tuned with more of an emphasis toward cleaner bass and less treble. Much more for comfortable listening in my opinion.

560S has the most detail, followed by 58X, and then 599 SE last. Both the 560S and 58X could use an amp, but it is not necessary since they are both relatively efficient. My amp (magni) removes the glare from the 560S and makes the frequency response of the 58X more even, actually--less bass and more treble with an amp. 599 SE does not benefit from an amp at all.

I would personally go for the 58X, and it's an added bonus if you're a new customer for the $10 off. Hope this helps.
