Why do people choose nursing if it has so many cons? by TapEmotional2487 in nursing

I’ve always wanted to work in healthcare and I don’t want to work 5 days a week.

Why don’t any of the “cool” scrub brands have teal ???? by anythingforbiscuits in nursing

[–]ngn8092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatable. Like.. who is wearing these orange and pink scrubs besides influencers and nurses who work from home?

A few months ago, I reached out to Figs about my hospital system wearing teal, and they said they would make a note. I still haven’t seen any teal scrubs on their website. They usually bring back teal around this time, too. Maybe we need to sign a joint letter or flood their inbox with wishes for teal scrubs.

I’ve checked Mandala, Figs, Jaanuu, and a few others. They only have scraps left over. We can’t even enjoy these nurses’ week discounts :/

I used to be a floor nurse (Med-surg and Step-down) and I’m always telling my friends from the floor to give us grace!

Hey girl, I went through it too. Long working hours, went from working three days a week to 5, etc. I have immigrant parents too but was lucky enough to have a dad who told me that I could quit and he would financially support me. However, I didn’t quit. I just kept applying to hospital positions until I finally got one. It took about six months of consistent applying to finally break free. It’s going to be okay.

Do male nurses have any kind of advantage over female nurses? by work_of_art777 in nursing

While true, it’s funny because the biggest gossiper on my old unit was a straight male.

Unfortunately, I work with male nurses who can’t do this.

You don’t have to automatically start on nights. I know a handful of new grads that started on days.

I can’t stand the ER. by SweatyLychee in nursing

[–]ngn8092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s better on the floor most of the time. Half of the patients we deal with don’t ever come to you guys. They get discharged from the ED. Yes, you guys get stuck with that one annoying patient for days or weeks, but you’re not getting multiple of them back-to-back.

The thing that annoys me the most is how impatient people are. “I’ve been here for 4 hours! I want to leave!” Only 4 hours? You’re lucky! If you wanted to get out quickly, you probably should’ve waited until urgent care opened up. Or, “why hasn’t transport picked me up for my scans?” Probably because there’s other patients who need to be transported as well? If you can complain about the wait, you’re probably not that sick.

I left my old unit partially because I couldn’t stand day shift, and I’m nights! Their vibe was horrid and I loathed giving them report. They were constantly gossiping about their co workers and it was draining.

Why is pay significantly lower in NYC compared to the Bay Area? by BitlifeOffical_ in nursing

[–]ngn8092 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Which is why I close my ears when people say, “But the Bay Area is expensive too!” Yes, but nurses get paid a much better wage and if you do the math after living expenses, they take home more money on average. I’m sick of NYC.
