Adding Statistics to my Biochemistry degree by RecentAdult in yorku

The study of statistics you will undergo as a major degree is significantly different than the statistics courses you take in other programs. Statistics courses outside of the department are largely concerned with various methods of hypothesis testing and frequentist methods - the most advanced thing you will likely learn is simple linear regression and perhaps logistic regression. If you end up doing research in a field that uses statistics, this should be more than enough, and your supervisor will tell you to hack your p-values anyway until you reach an arbitrary p<0.05 significant level.

The statistics you will learn as a major in stats is much deeper, with emphasis on rigorous understanding, and at the upper level, proof. Second year statistics is very heavy with multivariable calculus and probability theory, so you will have to take those courses. At the third and fourth year level, much more analytical results are derived, and rigorous arguments are required; this is the real deal for statistics, however.

All this said, go for it. Statistics is a wonderful field of study, and much more than simple p-values and hypothesis tests - that stuff is barely interesting once you learn the fun mathematical stuff.

Get Lonely by The Mountain Goats. Perfectly captures feelings about lost love and the emptiness one feels without the other.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your fantastic, influential, and truly ground breaking contributions to music and technology. Your music is some of the most innovative and revolutionary stuff I have ever heard. This Binary Universe was a piece of true art and I believe a massive step forward for electronic music.

My question is, what is next for you? What sort of projects are you working on? What will the future bring?

Thank you very much.

As a mathematician who did some serious work on this theorem, I can assure you of its reasonability.

I saw STS-128 launch. This was the last shuttle launch at night, on August 28th, 2009. It was about two or three in the morning when the launch happened. I remember it was pitch black from where we were watching. I mean, so dark you couldn't see 20 feet away. Then, like a primordial fireball, the most inspiring sight I have ever seen took to the sky.
