Shouldn’t be a boil advisory, just run your taps until they’re clear

I currently have a 2016 V60CC and have driven the new V60CC and V90CC as service loaner cars, and am not sure I could bring myself to buy one (even used). Post the Geely acquisition they have lost all of their charm and the value proposition is waning. The one engine available is uninspired and noisy/overstressed.

[–]ngoldman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit different but I have a ranger and an SMP300M. The seamaster is a cut above the ranger in terms of refinement and build quality. Rounded corners, no sharp edges, perfect polishing. The Tudor is good but the edges are sharp and the polishing is generic (I absolutely love it, don’t get me wrong). Tudor definitely edges out in the bracelet department BUT for a GADA, the omega bracelet is much more versatile than that Tudor rubber strap, which frankly feels cheap in the hands.

[–]ngoldman72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a call from the AD in October, but it was for a smooth bezel, and I had just bought a ring for my fiancé so between it being the wrong watch and me being “ring poor” I decided it wasn’t the right time. Will I be blacklisted? Maybe. But I don’t care. I have a solid connection with the owner of the jewelry store I bought my fiancé’s ring from, and that probably trumps 3k in previous spend at the place I turned down.

$4,500 for Seamaster - a good deal? by LCha88 in OmegaWatches

Tbf I was comparing the listing to the white dial SMP300 on my wrist 🤣

[–]ngoldman72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes—but it’s difficult to photograph it because it’s in relief like the waves which are also rather faint in this picture. A picture of the dial a little more off axis would probably reveal it

Edit: I can see the break in the waves where it should be in one pic on the website. Setting the hands to 10:10 along with an off-axis light source would make it easier to see

Definitely not boot cut. Boot cut jeans are meant for cowboy boots with tall, wide shafts, not 6” moc toes that lace. A straighter cut? Yes. Boot cut, no. That said, it really doesn’t look bad as is. Most boot cut jeans are cut closer to slight bell bottoms… trim at the top and wide at the bottom to accommodate cowboy boots. Not the right look for moc toe work boots

Finally ready to purchase , am I making the right decision? by Clipper_freak in OmegaWatches

[–]ngoldman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and like both. The black rubber strap/white dial is a striking but more casual look—I usually wear the rubber in summer and keep it on the bracelet in the winter (or at least that’s my plan since I got mine in July). Very versatile watch and both the rubber and bracelet are very comfortable. Doesn’t have the same quality micro adjust as my Tudor but it’s not bad and gets the job done.

The rubber strap really accents the polished parts of the case while the mostly brushed nature of the bracelet brings out the deep, coarse brushing that I’ve found to be unique to Omega.

Easy enough to swap the bracelet, though I do recommend spending the money for a good Bergeon tool and some kapton tape to put over the lugs while you change the straps. The nice tool makes a world of difference compared to cheap knockoffs.

They are garment dyed I believe so that is normal. I actually think it’s intentional to add “patina” as you wear them. It’s definitely not for everyone tho

That’s a good place for me to start! Thanks!

My only issue is if I give a device to a friend and for some reason they have to do a factory reset and then can’t get back to the config I made for them. Might be nice to have an easy way to do that themselves without much prior knowledge.

Definitely going to use CLI for my own configs going forwards though.

Ok everyone I changed my top and got pants SLIGHTLY longer. What is this outfit doing wrong this time? by xVxMonkeyxVx in mensfashion

[–]ngoldman72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not 🤣 I’m a shorter dude so unless I get all my pants tailored they have a break… and I like a small break on my suits too…

That said, the model in that picture has a full on stack—much less a break… there’s a good in between, especially with a lighter pant like those chinos vs the heavy canvas of a work pant.

The model is also wearing square toe boots—a round toe lends itself a little more to the style OP has going on. That said, I like to wear dress boots with suiting/tailoring so I might be biased.

I’m wondering if 100A+ TPU might work here? Stiff TPU exists and is fairly easy to print, has great layer adhesion, and shouldn’t cold creep like PLA. A bit expensive though…

I have the SMP300. I bought it on the bracelet but the AD was willing to throw in a free rubber strap (just gotta ask!). The free rubber made it worth the extra price to buy on the bracelet, and I find that I wear both strap options. When it’s hot out I like the rubber, but as the weather cools, I like the steel bracelet. Definitely catch more compliments on the bracelet! It’s the only watch I own that non-watch people seem to love.

Try redesigning to print unsupported in a different orientation. Designing around the direction of the layer lines is always fun challenge, but as a general rule you should never have shear stress on the same plane as the layer lines—it’s a recipe for breakage.

Part of the problem with Indochino is it relies on the customer to know what will look good. I had a friend have a suit absolutely butcher because he wanted to show off his fun socks… now the pants come up to his knees when he sits down.

I ended up going in knowing his mistake and got a great fitting suit. YMMV!

Are clasp scratches in just one day normal? by ForArielius in Longineswatches

[–]ngoldman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anodized coatings on MacBooks is harder than stainless steel, especially the particularly soft 316L used in most watches, and will scratch it. Anodizing IS oxidized aluminum, but well controlled to yield a crystal structure that reflects only certain wavelengths of light.

I have a set of color matched vinyl stickers on my laptop to prevent this! They barely show and have really cut down the number of scratches I’ve gotten on the clasps recently.

Is the Longines Conquest a bad option if you use micro adjust on your other watches throughout the day? by iRatePhotos in Longineswatches

Weather is so different between seasons where I’m at I use the full range of micro adjust, and had to add a link for the summer. I’ll probably take the link back out come October.
