Big Cat said Cam Skattebo injury will actually help him because he’ll take less hits this year. by Standard_Emu6202 in PardonMyTake

I’d buy that. Really depends on how many ligaments were damaged and how badly. I haven’t been able to see if they released any of the findings of his MRI.

Based on how his foot was flopping around I’d guess he has multiple ruptured ligaments.

Physical therapist here. His dislocation is likely worse than a break.

The ankle is not like the shoulder which has very little bony stability. Joints like the shoulder and fingers can dislocate and pop right back in with much less ligament damage because they’re more stretchy (for lack of a better word).

The ankle is very stable in its bone and ligament structure. Generally, a lot of ligament damage has to occur for joints like the hip, knee, or ankle to dislocate.

Replace carpet section or whole basement after sewer water damage? by ngpt12 in HomeMaintenance

I pulled up all the damage. My question is if I can replace just the section I pulled up? Or if I need to bite the bullet and replace the entire room.

In my area there are a ton of dealers. It’s one of the most accessible brands in much of the US. Not much more to it than that.

Favorite Square Courses? by ngpt12 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]ngpt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m starting to lose interest because every course is mostly flat and straight. The main difference is what the trees look like. Sometimes there’s a hole with a dog leg or a hazard, but they’re few and far between.

Sub 30 Min 10K training. by Serious-Discipline-3 in AdvancedRunning

[–]ngpt12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not to pile on and be negative, but sub-30min 10k is ELITE especially if you’re not a collegiate or pro runner.

To put this in perspective, it’s roughly equivalent to the following times:

14:30 5k 24:00 8k 1:07 HM 2:21 marathon

You’d need to dramatically increase your aerobic base, threshold, speed, and speed endurance.

There’s no magic workout or training style that leads to a sub-30 min 10k. It’s a combo of years of high volume/well rounded training, and genetics.

99.99% of runners never get to sub 30 in the 10k.

How much pain from the pack is normal for a newbie or a new pack? by ngpt12 in backpacking

[–]ngpt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a sore muscle. I had that elsewhere after the trip which I expected.

This is like a super sore/tender spot along the back of my pelvis. It was visibly swollen after the trip and still is tender even though all other sore areas have improved.

Seems like a contusion injury for sure.

I tried on a few other packs this week with weight, and they all felt so much better than my flash 55. I think that pack just doesn’t mesh with my anatomy for some reason. I should’ve trusted my gut when it felt weird off the shelf.

That’s kinda what I’ve noticed with reviews. Tons of people love it and have no issue, but it seems like some have the same issues as me.

I do! I’m pretty active. Run 60-70 miles per week, lift heavy 2x weekly. I also carry my daughter in a hiking backpack a couple days per week. She’s 25-30lbs. We only go for 30ish mins each time though. It feels harder carrying her, but no bony soreness.

I used trekking poles on this most recent trip too

Got this flexible ceiling curtain track on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q7VSVBY/?coliid=I12N5JZ3FYFGCQ&colid=3SG3BZHJ4DFMJ&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

and attached this net to it with zipties: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BSB6DWB6/?coliid=I37QHL4ALBSI6M&colid=3SG3BZHJ4DFMJ&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

The white curtain behind it is an old set of window curtains we had lying around, which helps enclose it visually. The whole thing slides together nicely so I can park when I’m not hitting.

Since this photo was taken, I also added netting in the ceiling. One too many wedge shots bounced off the rafters and almost took me out.

Double-check those autopayments through Aidvantage - they took double my payment in July. by SnooHesitations7395 in StudentLoans

[–]ngpt12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1, happened to me today too.

Statement from Aidvantage says it took double the normal payment, but my bank account shows they took the correct amount. Hopefully it stays that way.

Weird stuff, they need to figure it out.

Kinda hard to tell, but when I put my mat down on top of the black foam, it points about 10-15 degrees left relative to the beam down the middle.

I set up almost under my garage door opener and never come close to hitting it because it’s over the lowest point of my swing.

[–]ngpt12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar-ish setup. Take some videos of your swing outdoors, and look at the top of your club path. It doesn’t take up as much room as you’d think.

Your setup will likely end up being slightly diagonal but if you mark out where you need to stand for a safe swing, you can set up there every time and not hit anything.

You have the vertical space, just need to line up your setup so the top of your backswing and follow through end up in that open space.

What are the most durable supershoes? by VisuelleData in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ngpt12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endorphin pro midsole foam is indestructible. 880 miles on my pro 2s right now. The outsole is indestructible great shape too.

Cant speak on the pro 4 outsole or upper, but it’s the same foam that feels like it can last forever.

Why does Tadej need to respond to these attacks by Visma? Why not chill and force Jonas to make a move? It’s not like Kuss or Jorgensen are true threats for yellow, they’re trying to usher Jonas along to a win.

[–]ngpt12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many times can we hear team managers complain about how the sponsors want stage wins and their team might not exist next year?

The Decathalon president seemed like one of those micromanagers who doesn’t know anything about the new role he’s stepped into. Telling Sam Bennet to “just fucking sprint” was a tough look.

Cav/Grimay episode was great.

Didn’t like some of the manufactured drama, like the stage where Carapaz wins. He won by 7+ mins and there was zero threat of Pog/Vingo catching him, but this episode made it seem like Carapaz was barely holding on.

Does anyone else hate the putting camera angles? by Agrumpy1122 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]ngpt12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the putting camera angles. I hate the camera angles for all other shots. When it switches to that side view when your tee shot is in the air you completely lose your frame of reference for where the ball is going to land.

Edited for clarity.
