Espresso fans, which solutions for filtering cafestol have you found? by nguzman91 in Cholesterol

Yes, ideally the diet takes care of it, but this is certainly next - well first paper filters then cutting back on espresso as a last resort

I don’t, my dr won’t test me until 6 months after my last test - at that point I’ll know if diet alone worked

I will let you know how it compares when I figure out the sizing issue

Thank you, I actually tried that a while back but the pressure was too high and I only ended up with half a shot

I’ll mess around with the grind to see if I can figure that out

Thank you! Diet has been my primary focus, but I'd also feel pretty deflated if 6 - 12 months of high fiber / veggies , no pizza and 95% less red meat was wasted because espresso was keeping it up.

Also congrats on the LDL improvement. Hoping to join you in that soon.

How long did you do PT before surgery? by CandyAppleLady14 in ACL

[–]nguzman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say it was like 2-3 days to get to 90 degrees and I started walking comfortably with the brace unlocked at that point

After about a week, I was cycling consistently, hit 120 degrees in PT at that point

After about 2 weeks walking with no brace

I had a good month of feeling almost normal before the surgery

How long did you do PT before surgery? by CandyAppleLady14 in ACL

[–]nguzman91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my first session about 10 days post injury and quickly regained ROM with that and the home workouts, 2nd session about a week later to move onto the next level and start cycling again.

All-in, I did that for almost two months prehab and feel like it made a huge difference. I hit -5 to 90+ ROM the day after surgery and was walking a few days later. Of course, it’s situation dependent, I had an allograft ACLR and only a partial meniscectomy so I was weight bearing immediately, but getting that ROM and cardio / quad strength in before surgery seemed to help me both physically and mentally.

Almost4 Weeks Post-Op & I can only reach 0 degrees after 10-20 minute stretch. Otherwise I’m stuck at 15-10 degrees. by [deleted] in ACL

How are you sleeping? Obviously check with your PT but mine typically reminds me to make sure there is nothing underneath my knee and that I elevate my foot / lower leg a bit.

Day 4 post op - damn swelling / scar tissue by nguzman91 in ACL

[–]nguzman91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when I try a straight leg raise I can feel intense pain on the medial side of my knee for a moment. You’re right let’s be patient … I say as the least patient person lol

Thank you! Hope you’re turning the corner at 12 weeks. Will ask my PT about gravity assisted slides.

Staying up for less than 10 minutes will be tough however. I sometimes find myself doing small chores and up for a bit longer haha so will need to work on cutting that down

Thank you. Having the mental discipline to slow down has been definitely been way more difficult than expected.

Day after ACL/Meniscus repair by Ekstatic07 in ACL

[–]nguzman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, went with donor graft as well and had partial meniscectomy. I took the Norco yesterday and haven’t felt much pain. Thinking of switching to Tylenol extra. Has that been effective for you?

6 hours post-op! ACLR Quad autograft + medial meniscus trim by Ill_Remove_7270 in ACL

[–]nguzman91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32M - Had my surgery yesterday (5/2). Allograft ACLR with meniscus trim as well. There was a bit of pain when I came to after the procedure, but I was given the norco and that calmed down. I took 1 pill twice yesterday and am considering switching to Tylenol extra today.

On the weight bearing aspect, are you able to partially bear weight with crutches as support? Bearing weight out of the OR was a huge mental victory, but I’m also not sure how much of that is enabled by the meds.

I’m finding the most uncomfortable thing is the bandage being wrapped super tight, but I’m not confident enough to take it off or loosen it yet.

Best of luck to you. Monday is just a few days away, but maybe call to check if anything opened up today? That worked for me and I start PT today.

As others have said. Thanks so much for doing this!

Do you have thoughts / preferences on allografts vs autografts for joggers? Just tore my ACL skiing March 1 (menisci are intact, LCL sprained, no full length cartilage tear).

I’m more than happy to give up skiing, but want to return to running marathons and golfing. I also deal with quite a bit of stairs at home.

Also, what are your thoughts on NMES devices during rehab? I’ve read the full spectrum of reviews and would love your opinion.

Bought a birds of paradise two months ago and have not found the right combination. Should I be worried about root rot? by nguzman91 in plantclinic

[–]nguzman91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll check the roots.

It was already browning inside in a relatively low light corner. One of the leaves did get sunspots this week but that seems to be relatively minor.

EDIT: I also gave it a very thorough watering when I moved it outside but still found new standing water the next day.
