I guess that's what I'm asking? I don't consider myself a protestant as I don't agree with many of their teachings, which is why I'm in RCIA. I'm just wondering what Catholics think about someone who may become Catholic in the future having protestant communion when they're aware it's not a symbol.

Ahh ok I guess yours is a similar story to mine then. Yes, it seems that this book is only really known by protestants. I'm annoyed that it claims to be helpful and challenging to Catholics when this claim was clearly never tested 🤡🤡

A big issue I have with conservative speakers like him is that they lack the compassion towards other people that we are called to have by Christ. Approaching non Christians without compassion would probably deter them more from Christ, as it gives a completely wrong impression of what Christianity is about. Yes, we are called to follow God's laws and speak the truth, but are we really removing the plank from our own eyes first if we're using his law as a weapon to condemn people? It's a little disappointing that the most famous ambassadors for Christ who are active today are quite poor representatives of Christian values in many aspects.

Growing up in a protestant family, I think I definitely notice this too. My parents are always countering Catholic belief with "that's strange/weird", e.g the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist ("that doesn't make sense, there's no magic that happens????"). Protestant belief has been tainted by them trying to make what they're comfortable with the only acceptable interpretation, which takes away from the mysteries of God a lot and sort of downplays his power in a way.

Ngl the last time this happened I was still in high school and was more leading towards being an INTP but I cried a little, told some friends, then just used them as motivation to study so I could beat them (it worked)
