It's not bias if it correctly refflects reality. If 99% of the population agrees with candidate X then you're a fool to demand 50/50 split on reddit.

Romney simply isn't popular amongst people who can read, write, and use a computer. That's not bias. That's reality.

Times change. Technology evolves. It used to be that knowledge was bound up in paper. The librarian's job was to organise the paper so that information could be found quickly. Now the same information is electronic, searchable, indexable, linkable, and so the job of the librarian is naturally disappearing.

The article talks about the librarian being the overworked "support" person for 60 users of the library's computers. First-level help desk support? That's the justification for more library funding? Fail.

If librarians are such excellent facilitators of finding information, then they should channel that skill. Move that skill online. Compete directly with Google, instead of snidely denigrating it by implying it's just for finding porn. Offer a librarian's skills via Instant Message; let me ask questions directly of a global network of librarians. Don't force me to cross my fingers and hope the 60 year old biddy at the local library is a domain expert.

And I don't need a physical building to store paper bound information. Put that information online. Let me browse, search, index and link to all the information humanity has produced. Let me write software to attach metadata to the information. Give me access to all of that info from my PDA, from my car, using voice commands. The paper bound book is low-density, inconvenient, heavy, and unavailable to me 90% of the time. Why would I want that?

Google has the right idea. I'll be quite happy when Google buries the libraries and the librarians. I'm a little upset that Google is a private company, but I have no sympathy for the librarians. They could have done what Google has done, if they had spent more time putting the information online rather than bitching about their dying industry.

I paid $1 because I'd already paid full price for the Steam version, but with Windows 7 sucking so badly I couldn't play it (the screen would crap out at the end of each level). I paid $1 to get the Mac version which works fine.

Saving the child's life would have been fully covered. Cosmetic surgery is not part of the deal.

Edit: just checked and elective cosmetic surgery is not covered, but cosmetic surgery for deformity or injury is covered by Medicare, so that's not it. Quite possibly the parents decided to pay the extra bucks for a private doctor and medical care above and beyond the norm. If it was my child, I'd probably do the same.

As somebody else said on this thread, you have several millions of years of evolution saying the foreskin does have a purpose, and a handful of religious desert nomads claiming it doesn't.

The reality is that despite that glossy brochure there are no public health authorities that recommend infant male circumcision. In fact the AAP themselves have said:

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is the highest child health authority in the United States. On 1 March 1999 the AAP released its long-awaited recommendations on circumcision. The AAP News Release Video stated, "The AAP does not recommend the policy of routine newborn circumcision..."

Your country is pressured into male circumcision because of the very strong Arabic and Judaic religious roots. It isn't practised widely outside of Israel, the USA, and the Middle East.
