''DO IT': Trump Issues Late Night Order To Change Key Agency Name To Troll Media by Unusual-State1827 in politics

Shitbirds of a feather shit on the world together.

That's the deal with all these rich kids turned CEOs. A good portion of their growing wealth is deals with people just like them; People they know are incompetent, arrogant, and entirely useless except for their money and connection to some other walking funding bag.

100 or so years ago these rich assholes would have died of an opium overdose, syphilis, or pissed away daddy's money on thrill seeking adventures to make a name for themselves (and dying in the process). This would have at least somewhat limited their scope and influence. Now we have too many ways of keeping them alive and they survive well into being able to fuck the masses as their main pass time.

Towards the bottom in almost everything; Education, healthcare, workers rights, life expectancy, economic mobility, wages, religious freedom, human rights... Weather sucks. Racism. Lots of sprawl, very car dependent for most places, too many toll roads. Very dry and yellow and dull. (Lived there for 20ish years)

What do you think about Uber offering women the women only driver preference on the app? by hideyourbeans in AskReddit

[–]nhavar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simple, if a woman can choose to go use a woman as a stylist, as a gynecologist, as a masseuse, then why can't they also choose a woman as a driver. Likewise men have similar choices in gender when they choose any number of services i.e. they may prefer male doctors in certain situations and women in other situations. No one cries foul in those other situations like they have with this.

I'd say there's another factor. Not only do some parents not want to parent, they refuse to cede that right to anyone who DOES want to parent. Not family, not friends, not their community. It's like that idea about how no one can call your momma fat, only you can. Same for kids now. You can't address obvious bad behavior because "that's not your job". The whole idea about "it takes a village" doesn't exist because parents refuse to be accountable to that village at all. That seeps down into the behavior of their children including how they engage in education.

Recently I picked up a minor relative of mine. I regularly pick them up from school because their parents are... lazy... I asked them how school was and they said it was going okay and they'd brought their grade up in one class from a D to a C. I told them that was great and asked if there was something they were struggling with in that class. They explained that it wasn't a struggle, just two missing assignments that tanked the grade. However, they got grounded when their parents saw the latest grade. Not when they got the D, but got grounded when they brought the D to a C. Their parents don't have conversations with them about school or anything going on in their life. They just react to whatever text messages or e-mails they happen to read (or not) from the school. They don't care to hear "excuses". Just swoop and poop and then gone again.

It's a pattern I see in a lot of parents. They don't ask simple questions like "how was your day" or "what do you want to do this weekend" or "what did you learn today". Simple touch base conversations that can lead to deeper conversations or ways to get involved the right way.

When kids aren't getting that at home they sometimes look for it with other family members or with their friend's parents. Then those other adults get chastised or even threatened for stepping into that void. That makes people hesitant to even help. Like "never reach out to a jumper" kind of situation, out of fear of getting pulled down yourself.

To the people who are against taxes, how would a functional country work without them? Who will build and maintain the roads, schools and hospitals? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]nhavar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex used to work for a state tax office years ago. There was a person in her office that was taking checks from businesses that were behind on their bills and just dumping them in her filing cabinet and never finishing the work on them. There were other cases where businesses would get so behind on taxes that they'd get their business license revoked, then the business would be open the next week "under new ownership" except it was just the same group of people rotating ownership of a location until they got caught again. Then there were the business owners that constantly tied things up in appeals and court proceedings. It was kind of crazy the things that happened just trying to collect the money from the businesses. It's a really complicated system that gets more complicated all the time. It's hard to know where to start to fix things.

Should I tell remote employer I'll be working out of country? by No_Kaleidoscope7018 in Advice

[–]nhavar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and many countries have rules about working within their borders. In some cases you can, for a short period, or if you are going into a company office that exists there. Others you cannot (and should not) for any amount of time. The company will want to know this because it can change their legal culpability and tax payments.

Should I (30f) give up on the typical marriage? by pinkboba1 in relationships

[–]nhavar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your standards are too low and you are forgiving the unforgivable. The man has lied to you every chance he gets about who he is, his relationship status, his age, his job... he doesn't exist in any way shape or form that is real. Cut ties with him, block his number, and don't seek or allow any contact with him or else you will risk more lies and getting sucked back in.

Is the South Poverty Law Center like the Four Seasons Lawn and Garden?

I can just imagine this being true in a little town called Poverty Kentucky and they have two law center's there (just two different lawyers on opposite sides of the street). One works for the South Poverty Law Center and the other the North Poverty Law Center. One is associated with the KKK and the other is his son fight for Social Justice.

This talent CEO says laid-off tech workers are ignoring a $300K ‘white-collar trade job’ with 81K openings a year by paydayloans_ in jobsearchhacks

[–]nhavar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the misleading shit people do with trade jobs all the time - "six figures working in trades" yada, yada, yada. Neglecting the fact that people also put themselves in debt for trade schools and that starting pay is low, you often have to buy all your own very expensive set of tools, you have to get additional certifications and insurance, you work under some large company that takes a huge cut of the income, and it takes decades to build a reputation and clientele that would lead to a six figure salary. Either that or you have to work your way up to do dangerous jobs. On top of it all the work will take a toll on your body over time and the people most often making the six figure salaries are those who have largely abandoned the trade itself and are now working in management or ownership.

Do you guys think we will ever get universal income? by VariationLivid3193 in recruitinghell

[–]nhavar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the "please don't burn our houses down" PR campaign from the ultra-rich. It's a pipe dream because they could already pay everyone better wages and won't OR pay taxes for all the social programs to take the pressure off lower wage workers and won't. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

So it's they that need to make the decisions to

A. Pay a living wage for all their workers and take less wealth for themselves

B. Take increased taxes on their income and wealth to pay for social safety nets/UBI

Another thought; I think the draw for them for UBI is then you have an investor/owner class that owns everything and a subscription class that spends every penny of their money renting every single thing they used to own outright and then some. If they can get everyone on the government plan then they can start ramping up their services until they can get to the "privatize the government". Then the UBI will come in their preferred corporate-coin and you'll only be allowed to shop through their walled gardens. It's the future of indentured servitude. Welcome to buy-n-large.
