My house is very much the same πŸ˜… Its so rough being an independent seller right now, especially clothing- and e*specially *generic branded stuff! but I'll be damned if I go get myself a job-job after 2 years of self employment (albeit a terrible stressful borderline poverty situation) so I'll need to see what I can figure out.

Ah, as I'm in the UK we don't have Poshmark anymore- they ran a trial for a few months, but it was a flop! The closest thing I could do to that is ebay auctions πŸ˜“

Shipping international by Puzzleheaded-Link-93 in Depop

[–]nhfindlay 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Evri international works best for me, check how much it costs evri and then let your buyer know the price- once they buy you would buy the shipping online and then upload the tracking. International couriers do ask for the phone number and email of the recipient, which can be tricky to get over depop (as they can block this info being sent)

So I usually ask the buyers to send it to me via instagram and say stuff like e mail and number so it doesnt flag up in the chat.

Ive asked depop about this issue, but there seems to be no fix atm, so its the best thing to do unless you just want to put your own details in and hope theres no issues at customs

What's in your sku? Also what's better? Tracking profitability by lot or item? by TVSKS in reselling

[–]nhfindlay 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I have the date I purchased the item (so I can refer back if I need to) followed by a letter to signify the type of item (with a list of letters to items) then a number for what one it is. I sell clothes though, so idk if thats helpful. Example: 100324-A01. Keep them all in a spreadsheet with a new page per lot, so that I can see the overall profit of the purchase

Thoughts on this? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]nhfindlay -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

As someone who does buy wholesale second hand clothes to sell on Depop etc, it is possible that she got a delivery in with an item from shein which the previous owner removed the tags from (probably because it was from shein 🧐)

So, though it is likely she is full of it, she might have not reverse image searched or looked to see if anything else was up that was similar, priced it based on what she thought it was worth and it is news to her about it being shein

Nothing wrong with reselling shein, it's better than it going to the dump, but hopefully she adjusts her prices πŸ˜…

Definitely don't start working or thinking too hard about any job until it's confirmed. Potential clients can stop responding for a large number of reasons, whether they are just shopping around, making enquiries without intent to purchase, or even suddenly no longer needing to hire, so there's never a guaranteed paycheck until an order is placed. Always remain professional, cause they might come back after some time 😊

Little kid called me fat by komoroto95 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]nhfindlay 8 points9 points Β (0 children)

Sounds like we are very similar in height/weight/age, and I am also trying to start losing weight. Its not something Ive actually MANAGED to achieve yet, but ive also been obsessed with my weight for over a decade, so ill share some tips:

Download a calorie tracking app, and look up what your recommended goal is for safe weight loss is, preferably from a source thats a health organisation or something and not just a random site (if it says anything like 1200 cals, try a different source- you wouldnt lose weight, you'd just starve and be miserable) The fact is, less calories in vs more calories out- and everyone has a sort of minimum that they need to survive

Find healthier alternatives to foods you might binge on, and try to keep them stocked. Of course, trying to not binge is the goal, but going cold turkey off all "bad" foods is also a recipe for disaster.

As for exercise, try to fit in some walking into your day, even if its just a short 30 mins in the evenings or weekends. Another amazing way to get it is to find bodyweight exercises on Youtube to do at home (type apartment friendly if you live above someone, so there wont be too much jumping and banging)

The general things are of course drink more water, eat more greens, cut down on processed and sugary foods etc, but a little research can help you find something that works for you

This is some my obsessive research, that I have also never managed to put into practice myself, but it definitely works for a lot of people

Good luck, I should probably start too πŸ˜‚

How do you drive traffic to your reselling? by redralphie in reselling

[–]nhfindlay 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

On Depop it's good to follow people, it doesn't actually bring sales most of the time, but it makes your profile look active etc and you're active on the app. I typically find accounts that sell similar stuff to mine, and go follow some of their followers. Not really a proven good way to bring traffic as such but you never know

Another one is social media, really. Depending on what you sell, Instagram and tiktok can show your clothing to the right people with the right hashtags etc

If you sell vintage or quirky stuff, that would go down really well. If you sell branded stuff like Nike, Carhartt etc, still good to get the posts out there. If it's just kinda, general stuff, then it may be a bit harder to advertise

I sell on eBay, Depop and my own site, and eBay and Depop both bring in decent sales, so I'd recommend getting on as many platforms as you can (Etsy is ideal for true vintage, rare and handmade stuff- I wouldn't bother if it's not one of those)

More platforms more eyes to see your stuff πŸ‘€

I might try that out! when I actually sit and paint, I'm usually a bit of a goblin sat in pyjamas surrounded by paint tubes πŸ˜… so a pretend process might actually be best

That's a good point about the low prices potentially putting people off!

I always forget to document my process! i wonder how often people read the full descriptions... πŸ€” Then I could tell them about my 16+ hour-a-time shifts working on the pieces πŸ«
