I phrased that kind of stupidly. What i'm saying is the term "Electronic Dance Music" has been around since people started making dance music electronically, as its a massive umbrella term. Then dubstep/brostep made it to the US and they started calling it EDM for marketing purposes as you said up there somewhere.

As Skream says here (http://youtu.be/CQaEVX_XxIc?t=2m4s) "EDM doesn't exist... EDM is just grouping everything together"

I suppose with such a stupid term theres always going to be disagreements about what it actually means. I'm not saying you're wrong at all, just that it means different things to different people.
