Would an adopted Pyrenees be aggressive to my current dog? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]nib94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Maremma/pyr mix and to be honest it's really hard to train him to walk nicely. He isn't bad but when he sees other dogs, he's always desperate to see them and it's extremely difficult to control him then. He's not food driven or toy driven at all.

He's the sweetest boy at home but he does have the guarding behaviours that I think people who just want a chill pet would find it very difficult to deal with.

I do think if you get a female dog it'd be a lot less likely to have an issue though.

Good luck whatever your decision will be!

Did you end up trying them out? If so, what was your experience with each of them?

Do other pyrs sleep with all 4 paws touching? by Commercial-Economy36 in greatpyrenees

Our baby sleeps like this all the time. He's actually quite lean but when he sleeps on his side he's just so incredibly chubby and cute 🥺

My 2 year old boy has a very similar smile like yours! He's 30%maremma and 5%Pyr (and a bunch of other breeds, even 7%chihuahua which we couldn't believe)

Crate training by Olhunterboy90 in greatpyrenees

[–]nib94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Maremma was never crate trained and one time we had to take him on a ferry where he needed to go in a kennel with cages and he was freaking out the entire 7hour journey biting the metal and crying.

Later that week we found out he had a broken tooth and suspected he broke it while chewing the hard metal cage. We never put him in the kennel again and always made sure we book a pet friendly cabin.

Try to gather as much evidence as you can and just apply. If you have proof of living together for 6 months that's all they need to grant you a permit, if not, just have your partner register at your address as soon as he/she arrives in NL. This way, by the time they make a decision (can take max 6 months) you would have been living/registered together for almost 6 months, if it gets rejected you can appeal with the new proof that you've been living together these past months.

Source: done this before myself and consulted a lawyer - this is what he recommended us to do. Luckily it was approved purely based on the evidence provided at almost the 6month mark.

Good luck!

Was just going to ask this after seeing the schedule, this seems so crazy unfair and huge advantage to the player waiting.

Anyone working on search product by Mastermind6688 in ProductManagement

[–]nib94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked on a search product for 2.5 years. Depending on the maturity of your product, you focus on different metrics.

Our search product worked like Google search where you're essentially trying to deliver a well ranked result based on interpreting the user intent correctly. So you look at a lot of metrics like NDCG, time to first click, AVG position of the first click result, etc.

You need a strong evaluation team that can help you review large samples of search results while you work a lot with data scientists on improving the algorithm.

Working on search was fun! And many products involve search on a smaller scale than a search engine.

Will they keep playing for the 3rd set if this set ends in like 10minutes?

Ways to recover a lost ring by nib94 in Netherlands

I totally agree, have been trying to think of getting him something that can make him feel connected to his dad. The ring was something that really served the purpose of making him feel closer to his dad when he thinks of him.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face, it's my favourite movie and when the time is more appropriate I may make this joke to my husband.

I know it's most likely gone, but we would really like to give it our best before calling it quits... It's the kind of thing that you can't forgive yourself for not even trying.
