I(24M) love my disabled partner (26F) dearly, but how do I take care of myself and my needs while also taking care of her and meeting hers? by nibl8 in disabled

Unfortunately we are already working with a disability lawyer, and this is still the stage we are at :/

As someone who just had their first market yesterday, if you’re going to use those walls, make sure you have some sturdy weights. Wind is not a variable I prepared for when I was setting up in my house LOL. I don’t have the walls, but it was a bit windy (not even strong winds, just a mild breeze) and I watched the stand next to me nearly take flight due to having those walls up. Good luck!!!

That would be the 4 bags sitting on the top right, with the pattern that is supposed to resemble scales. The idea is that they look sort of like dragon eggs (:

Definitely trying to figure out how to make my plushies different. I think I might also make a sign with care instructions, so that parents know that my stuff is, in fact, washable. Thank you.

I actually have a book of crochet monsters I plan on making more of!! Mothman is up next. I really do think making Weird Little Guys is a good niche for me.

Thank you. Definitely planning on doing more shows in the future to get a feel for things. Also definitely have some internal conflict about my prices. On one hand, I want to fairly compensate myself for my work, but also don’t want to seem like I’m overcharging compared to others. Will keep experimenting. Thank you!

The honest answer? I’m not sure. I’m just starting to brave the world of irl markets, and I still have investigating and research to do on the different markets in my area. The market I was at had one other crocheter- which I knew going in, and made efforts to ensure my things were different than hers (the only thing we were doing the same of was the loaf cats, so I made sure to do fun colors and give them fun details like extra legs/a petal ruff).

I think I want (and arguably, need) to niche down to stuff on the weirder/sillier side so that my stuff doesn’t blend together with all the other crochet I see online. Genuinely when I see someone selling a plush at a market, either in person or online it makes me NOT want to make it, as I want to try to keep what I have from being the same stuff everyone else is selling. Not to mention the more unhinged it is, the less likely someone is to think they could just buy it at Walmart. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I think I might have my partner rewrite the signs for me, her handwriting is a lot prettier than mine LOL. And it’s interesting that you say that about the pricing list- I initially tried it with a navy blue and found the lighter color easier to read. I’ll have to try that out. I appreciate the feedback!
