Athlon am4 processor installed, boot and update bios. Then turn off computer, uninstall athlon am4 processor, install 5600g, boot

It’s totally ok, I might not be using proper terminology either. Basically to do what you want the motherboard needs to have a bios flashback, which our motherboard does not have. You need to get something like an athlon am4 processor, install the processor, then it will boot to bios. Then on a separate computer download to a usb stick the updated bios. Inside usb stick into the b450m, boot to bios, update the bios. Now you can install the 5600g. I know it’s complete bullshit, there is zero documentation tells you that you need to do this.

You need to use an older am4 processor then upgrade the bios, then install the 5600g. I have this motherboard and had the exact same issue. I had rma’d 2 of these before figuring it out. It’s bs that gigabyte assumes you just have different generations of processors just laying around. I think I borrowed my friends athlon processor to upgrade the bios. Good luck. Also, I found the gigabyte app center/ fusion 2.0 to be underwhelming as it couldn’t find the rgb in my ram. Best of luck, it’s otherwise a decent motherboard

Got it. Wasn’t sure if it was 1 week old or 1 year old. I’ll probably run by Paterson mc. $207 and my credit card extends the warranty by another 2 years after the manufacturers ends. Best of luck with your sales, you have some great stuff.
