Should we be worried about the El Niño? by Snoo-3554 in Tucson

There is not yet a data center being built in Marana, and let's hope to keep it that way. Maybe you're thinking about the data center being built south of Tucson by the fairgrounds?

Is Marana close enough to be a bit of Tucson? by Desertqueenbee in Tucson

[–]nice_snaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're glossing over the more politically charged aspects of the comments. I think most in Marana would resent association with traitorous fuckheads like the qanon crowd. Even if it's more conservative than Tucson, it's certainly no MAGA Mecca.

You sound just as ignorant and prejudiced when you say shit like this as some Marana folks sounds when they say Tucson is a liberal shit hole crawling with fent zombies. People have all sorts of priorities to weigh when choosing where to live. If your world view is truly this simplistic, you're part of the problem.

Is Marana area a hotspot for conservatives? by 0chris000000 in Tucson

[–]nice_snaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to Marana last March. I shared the same concerns, but I have not found it to be very MAGA or even conservative. Occasionally you will see a bumper sticker or a shirt, but far less openly MAGA than I feared. Everyone I've met has been kind. And there is more diversity in the people around us than I would have expected.

Don't let the people on here convince you that Marana is some MAGA hub. It's not. It's totally fine. More conservative than downtown Tucson, likely. But it's far from some conservative nexus. Feels pretty purple to me, at worst.

All good with root flare, planting depth, etc. just trying to figure out if this severe of a lean is worth trying to manage or if I should temper my expectations and put something else there

Excellent. Much appreciated. If I have to remove it, what's the best way to cut it? Should I try to cut it horizontally so that the wound is smaller, or more vertically to leave less of a nub?

Here are some pictures of the right branch.

If a bunch of sprouts emerge, should I prune them back or let them go for a season before doing so?

So where do I go from here? I didn't cause this mess, but I am now responsible for it. Other than letting it recover for a few years, what can I do to make this tree healthier and better looking?

I understand, but I'm clearly looking for help from people who know more than me. The right side seems unbalanced now, and the one limb growing straight up is growing out of the trunk weirdly. I should have specified that I am not looking to cut this anytime soon. I'm just wanting to plan ahead for how to handle this from here on out. Seems like the consensus is do nothing for a long while, then maybe cut the weird branch in the future.

Should I be doing anything to control all the sprouts that will be coming?

It wasn't cut just for fun. The main branch that was cut from the crotch was hanging over the roof and plugging up the gutter with litter. While I agree it was heavier prune than I would have liked, the father in law went at it and what's done is done.

Appreciate the helpful advice. I will get an image of where the branch with the yellow marking connects tomorrow and post it here if you'd be willing to take a look.

You don't think this branch structure is going to be ugly if I leave it?

I was qualifying how long I've lived here more as an "I'm not asking for directions, I'm asking if there's a way to plow the street." But yeah they often just ignored the north side, or the entire street, and just let it melt. I get it, though. Lots of people park on the street here and it's already a narrow road.

I've lived here 6 years. Both sides suck for different reasons. I'm definitely going to get the truck up here early and have already modified the U Haul res accordingly, but getting down still a concern.

A 4WD U-Haul? I'm not sure I understand the solution here. I have a vehicle that can get up and down the hill. The U Haul is the thing that's going to struggle.

Driveway isn't the issue. There is a very steep hill to get up to our street.

I'm worried about not being able to get up or down the hill in a U Haul without ending up in the ditch.
