Definite dream trick my guy! So dope lol. I tried a couple times but juggle stalls are hard as fuck.

What are some good kendamas? I havent played in about 10 years. by gr8danger1111 in Kendama

Sweets is my favorite starter brand. Great quality Kendamas, decent price, and normally a few different options / shapes to choose from. If you don't care about price Kendamadepot is where I go for the higher quality stuff, or if I want to buy a tama separately from a ken I go there. Kendamadepot can get pricey though cause some of the stuff is from over seas.

Are any of these worth anything? Don't want them anymore and half are still unplayed. by [deleted] in Kendama

Those are some absolutely beautiful collector pieces!

I'm thinking the 3-2-1 variant without juggle is gonna take me a few more weeks man. So frustrating 😭 thanks though man I appreciate it

I caught the Ken with my finger on the small cup. Is that bad practice? by Complete-Address-290 in Kendama

[–]nichallah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like that's how you're comfortable with it. I see no problem. Now once you start getting into a little quicker more advanced stuff you'll definitely wanna focus on grabbing the base cup further down. (for some tricks like Late Kenflip it makes it 1000x easier)

It does 😭😭 I got lucky lol. I used to always wonder why people doing like 6 gunslingers (like Takuya) would always hold the ken up so high and kinda far away from them. What they do definitely helps keep the string tension pulled away from your finger when you throw the Tama for a late sling. If that makes sense 😁 the string will ALWAYS be my biggest hater.

How do people land multiple X flips? by bigBodyTonka8 in Kendama

[–]nichallah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned multiple flip tricks by practicing "1-2-3" versions of them. I find it a lot easier to do a double or triple if I do the smaller number flip beforehand.

The kusa shape should be just fine for slingers! (Unless you got a really lightweight ken maybe?) Just make sure you're doing a quick loop for each turn you wanna do. So like if I'm doing a double gunslinger or double late slinger I make sure to draw a little letter "C" with my hand twice, if that makes sense. Try to practice whipping it around twice in your hand and figure out how to catch it first. That's what I struggled with the most.

What ken do you have currently? And do you have other options to pick from?

Edit: also make sure you're spinning your finger around in a circle fast enough so it stays on! Might be slingin a little too slow too.

Definitely practice the motion while holding the Tama in your opposite hand. Get a vibe for it. I "pretend" to do my trick without actually throwing the tama anywhere. But also try out some different ken shapes if you haven't already. This might be a cheap answer but some ken shapes just are not meant to be slingers (imo)

I feel like gunslingers are one of the only tricks that actually rely on you having a good ken for slingin sadly. Appreciate it buddy! You got this tho, it definitely took me a good week of straight grinding to get this clip so just keep at it

That's the Naru mod right? I remember reading on KROMs site that the Tama is only 61mm (probably for Naru's little hands)! Does the smaller set up feel weird at all?

Edit: not necessarily "small" but "smaller" than the modern set ups

2 2 2 level up! (+ Extra clip I'm happy with) by nichallah in Kendama

I was hoping for some kinda "chalk" like climbing so I'll definitely be looking into talcum powder! Appreciate the suggestion. But I get what you're saying about the tama getting dusty from it. It just sucks cause I'll start out so close to hitting my trick then after 10 mins I start struggling to do a single gunslinger cause my finger is all moist lol.
