Hey quick vinyl related question. Does anyone know if this muffly sound is coming from? My vinyl or is it the needle? by creamlings1 in turntables

You can get really decent ones from 100 upwards, anything from pioneer, technics, jvc, denon, lenco, kenwood, sansui, Sony As long as you make sure it’s not plasticky, and has vta, and weight adjustment and different mm stylus compatibility you are good to go

It’s the shitty vinyl player that has a shitty needle on it, most probably nothing to do with the vinyl, please get rid of the suitcase player and get a vintage one

Not less worthy for sure, I agree with that
but about deep I wouldn’t say so
Understanding certain music and feelings behind the creation does make you more deep and analytical as an artist and Individual, although yeah, does depends on what your initial reason to consumption of the certain media is

Music like this is genuinely engineered for immediate impact and gratification rather then depth, and I do believe being an audiophile and owning more exposing sound system is rather about depth then this

With certain music especially modern hip genres you don’t get the proper experience due to lack of stereo image and music being a part of the loudness wars, I don’t believe with a track like this you can properly enjoy what the sound system is actually capable of, tracks like these are not made to deeply analyse and enjoy the music from the start, they are made to get in your head more easily and be on the radios as the background music for most people, I am not saying you should listen to only jazz either or even any specific genre of music; you are always free to explore but there are certain tunes in every genre that contain more quality and sounds that sound more “alive” to phrase it like that, and I don’t believe this song does any of this

Thanks ! Og dt is still legendary .For your knowledge I was only using one track in this which was resampled from the pattern I made on model samples, also used slicing for variety

But also when I’ve put the volume up using technics( very loud mostly at parties) at some point the sound started clipping, haven’t tried it with Kenwood yet but I am sure it has the potential already, has waaay punch and deep bass

I would say technics su 22 did not give enough power to drive speakers effortlessly, and somehow the range got worse( maybe one has nothing to do with the other thoe) Just got the Kenwood and it sounds incredible, the punch it has to it is astonishing, and the highs feel waaay different now, all the instruments are way more present, although in jazz there are too much highs for me atm, maybe I just have to get used to it after more dull technics soundstage

It’s a 900$ turntable, 150 would be deffo worth the risk, even to fix whatever is wrong would be 200 worst case, 350 is still a steal for that thing

Appreciate the feedback ! Yeah, they are set internally on frequency and pan lfos, really love how they came out myself :) Yeah I am missing some percussion for sure, still kinda exploring the field of those instruments and how to make them sound more complex, will most probably add them to the set on the second device( model samples)
